OK help me here!! Protein snack suggestions!

  • OK I am needing some fresh ideas for good protein snacks so give me some of your suggestions!!
  • Right off the top of my head:

    Hard boiled egg
    Cheese sticks
peanut butter - perhaps on celery sticks?
Hummus on Ak Mak Crackers or a small pita
    Yogurt
    Cottage cheese
  • I have had hummus but some one made it, is it something I can buy from the store? It sure was good when I tried it!
  • Yes Laurei - I find it either in the dairy section or where they have lunchmeats depending on the store - or of course a Trader Joes type of place.

When in a hurry I might also have a glass of Soy Milk:

    100 calories
4 g fat (o.5 saturated fat; 0 trans fat; 2.5g polyunsaturated fat; 1g monounsaturated fat)
8 carbs (1 of them being fiber!)
    7g protein

    Good stuff...

I drink Vitasoy Complete because it has a great nutritional profile:

    70 calories
    4 grams of fiber
    6 grams of protein
    2 grams of fat
    2 grams net carbs
  • Excellent - TY!
  • And where do I get that from?!?!
  • Grocery Stores, Laurie. Silk Soy is found in the dairy section next to the milk and the other I think only needs refrigeration after it is opened so most stores keep it with like the hot cocoa and drink mixes type stuff...
  • Wrap a slice of turkey or chicken around some cheese. I am going to ck out the breakdown of wedges of Laughing Cow cheese....I love that on celery.

    Phyllis
  • Laughing Cow now makes more flavors- I love the French Onion! The other is Garlic & Herb. I've been able to get them here in the dairyland for a long time but I saw them at Sam's Club last weekend so they should be in your neighborhoods by now.
