Default psyllium shakes

Hi everyone,

I am new here and just bought the 8 minutes in the morning Flat Belly Book.
It talks about Psyllium Shakes and I am not too familiar with that. I have heard it referred to as a laxative. Are there brands that you can just buy in the grocery store, or a natural living center type place. If any of you could help me with that, I would be grateful. I don't know if it is a powder you put into something. It said to go to jorgecruise.com/psyllium for a list of his favorites, but nothing comes up.
Thanks!

Best I can tell from the Net is that it is a "colon cleanser."

I haven't done that but you can use any brand. I believe a couple of the girls here have done it, they can help you. I do know that you have to drink a LOT of water when you do this.

Get your info first before you do it. Ask Donna, she may have tired it.

Well I dont know about the whole shake thing, but Psyllium is a bulking fiber, to add bulk to your stools

You can buy any brand. Places like GNC sell it. I have not tried it. Aparently it cleanses your system by making you go to the bathroon. A recipe has been posted in the past and I will repost it here:

1C non fat surgar free Vanilla yogurt
1C 8 oz. milk skim
1/2 banana - or any fruit
1tsp. Flax oil
1 tsp rounded, psyllium husk

Blend till smooth
Let sit 1 min.
Mix in 1/2 C Uncle Same / GrapeNuts/ or Granola

DRINK LOTS OF WATER AFTER - AT LEAST 12 oz.'s

I have tried this and have not really seen a huge difference. It probably works. I think it tastes kinda gross. It thickens the longer it sits. So I drink it as fast as I can once I make it. If I take my time then I end up with a goo that I can't eat. They are healthy for you.

I am actually going to make one tomorrow to kick of my New Years goal.

Thank you everyone. I appreciate all the help. I am wondering if I should expect to be in the bathroom all day. It says to do this on Saturdays, but I can't help to think that my husband is going to enjoy having me in the bathroom all Saturday. I am a stay at home mom and was wondering if I should do it on a week day. Any suggestions?

Thanks again to all of you.

I would expect that that would be a realistic expectation. Try a weekday -

And definitely - drink water - water and fiber are friends - one without the other is BAD!

I found that taking Metamucil Fiber capsuls with calcium added definitely helps keep me "regular". I know it is not a cleansing system, but it definitely helps keep things moving down there. I don't get as much fiber in my daily diet as I should, so I have found this really helps me.
Just my two cents!
