Smile Newby from canada

Hi there everyone.
Have been checking out this site for the last couple of days and love the info and support. I have been trying for the last seven years to fight and control weight gain with some success and many set backs. My biggest challenge is having three active teenagers who can eat anything. I turn 40 in 6 months and would like to finally beat the weight gain problem. I have recently torn my medial collateral ligament and I,m in for eight weeks of physiotherapy before it heals. This has slowed me down considerably and If I don't control my munching I will need to lose much more than 40 lbs. I will be following the GI diet plan.

Hi and welcome. I really only got started when my kids were older too. I could go for a walk whenever I wanted and didn't have to worry about little ones.
It's a great time in our lives. I'm really enjoying it and I'm sure you will too.

Hello Newbie from Canada,
I'm a newbie from Canada also. I am from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. What about you? Where in Canada are you from? I need to lose about 40 lbs also. I still have young ones, 7 and 9 years old, but I don't want to wait till I hit age 40. (Two years away). Well, I hope to chat with you some more. Welcome. We can support each other in this journey.

Hi, sorry to hear about your MCL injury, I feel for you as I have a cast on my arm for another 3 weeks then possibly surgery. I was in a motor vehicle accident. I have managed to lose 3.5 pounds this week, no exercise (don't want the cast to get sweaty) just drinking 64 oz of water/Crystal Light a day and eating more lowfat protein and lots less sugar. It is snowing here we have had 7 inches this weekend and are expecting 6-10 more today!!
You can do it, it just takes perserverance Day in and day out !!
We're all in this together ! Looking forward to hearing of your success!

Julie

Default Good to here from you.

Thanks for the welcomes it's great to here from others.
Tracteso I'm not to far from you, I'm from Guelph and have been to Windsor many times as my kids all have participated in various competative sports(gymnastic/hockey/soccer).I'd be great to support each other in our goals.
Are you following a specific plan?
WYJulie three weeks to go you must be just itching to get the cast off . About 5 years ago I fell and broke both wrists at the same time and had to wear casts through the summer. Do i sound like a gimp or what . My Knee and wrists are the only major injuries I had in the last 20 years. Tea tree oil works great for cast itch and smell. Just a couple of drops into the cast and it works into your skin and feels great.
SusanB I have definately been enjoying the freedom of having older children.
I still have to be pretty dilligent with my children as there are many temptations out there for teenagers these day. Our neighborhood has an informal walking group and I love crosscountry skiing. I'm Jealous of your snow Julie.
I got to the gym twice this weekend and my knee is slowly improving. My eating was abit off track (kids ordered pizza and I couldn't resist). Feeling pretty motivated today and for the rest of the week. I've joined a New years challenge group and find it's a great motivation.
Good to here from you all .
