I am a newbie here and really know how to diet as i have been on just about all of them. what i am struggling with is how to get into a rhythm. about twelve years ago (i am in my mid fifties) i lost a lot of weight and pretty easily kept it off until about two years ago. since then i have been slowly gaining and have gained it all back AND THEM SOME.

i genuinely know how to diet, but i feel i need support and maybe a buddy to help me resist the sweet binges i get into. one of the things that seems harder this time around is that i actually feel pretty good and my MD says i am quite healthy (except the weight) so, that makes it tough. i don't like what i see in the mirror and REALLY don't like that i can't wear my clothes.

so maybe i will just use this place to come and write INSTEAD of eat. we shall see.

also, must say that i am somewhat clueless about how to use these "threads", journals or to subscribe to a particular area.

HI Mirabai,

Nice to see you here. I am new too, but also no stranger to diets. I think I have yet to see a person on here actually that would say "hi this is my first diet" haha I think we're pretty much all veterans, it's an ongoing struggle.

Not sure if this is available in your area... but where I live in western canada we have in the freezer section some 'fudge pops' kind of thing that are under 100 calories per. The ones I buy are by Breyer, but as I said I don't know which brands you have where you are.

They have several other things there like sugar free popsicles, 1 per package and I think those also are even lower in calories.

I NEED to have something to fill that monster that wants to pig out, and this fudge bar helps a lot. It is good for a snack time, especially now since it is very hot these days where I am.

Maybe you could look for something like that to feed that sugar craving you have.

HI Mirabai, I'm in my 50's too and yes, it is getting harder to take it off and keep it off! Some days I feel like i'm fighting a losing battle, but I know it's worth it and continue. I hate it when I gain weight!!! I hate the way I feel and I hate the way my clothes fit (or won't fit). I was at goal weight last summer but gained it back in the winter. This time I have vowed not to let that happen. I don't want to be embarassed again when I run into someone I haven't seen for awhile and they see the "fat" me. Or to have nothing to wear to an event because my clothes are all too small. So, i'm determined too! If you want to be e-mail buddies and help keep each other on the path to health and fitness, you can e-mail me at [email protected]
