Unhappy Hi - I'm new....

Hi,

I'm new here. I had a baby last summer and am trying to lose the weight I put on during the pregnancy. I put on over 50 lbs because:
  • I gave up cigarettes when I found out I was pregnant
  • I was put on a lot of extra insulin (I'm diabetic)
  • My thyroid gland went under-active (but is nearly back to normal now)
  • I was actually slightly underweight before I became pregnant and the doctor told me that because of this, it was natural that I gained a lot of weight, INITIALLY
  • and, of course, because I ate my way through the pregnancy!
I have lost 23 lbs so far but still have a way to go before I'm back at my original weight. To be honest, I'm finding it extremely difficult to deal with the changes that happened to my body as a result of the pregnancy (i.e. stretch marks, cellulite, changes to my stomach and breasts...). I have suffered from anorexia in the past so this makes it twice as difficult. Obviously now that I have a baby I have to make sure that I'm well so I'm trying to do this as healthily as possible.

Anyway, that's all for now. Looking forward to chatting with you all.

K.

Welcome to 3FC! I'm sure you'll find tons of support here!

I too am trying to lose my pregnancy weight ... only difference is, my son will be five this month!! Took me awhile to get really motivated to do it but i'm finally going to do it! And I know you will be able to too

What are you doing to lose the weight? I started WW @ home yesterday and the previous week I started out by watching what I ate more closley and drinking TONS of water!

I wish you lots of luck on your weight loss journey. And if you ever need some extra motivation, feel free to contact me

Thanks a million Jamie

I'm just cutting back my calorie intake and trying to get more exercise, which is difficult because I'm on my own all day (my husband is gone all day until 9.45pm) so all I can really do is take my baby for a walk.

I'm not a member of anything like WW, but as a one-time anorexic, I know the calorie content of everything! I suppose the main challenge is to make sure I'm doing this healthily. I'm finding it difficult to drink enough water - some times I go to bed at night and realise that I may have only drank 1/2 a glass of liquids altogether that day. I don't know why this is, it's like I just don't have the time to drink!!! Ridiculous, I know

Anyway, thanks again for the words of encouragement and offer of support.

My suggestion is just try and work it up everday. One day drink 2 glasses of water, the next shoot for three, etc etc. Until you work up to at least 8 oz a day I know how hard it is .. i'm not a big water drinker at all! Up until last week I hated drinking just plain water ... but now if I drink something different it makes me feel too full (like sodas and stuff) so I just stick with my water

Gl to you!!

Hi there!
I am also new here...just found the site about a week ago. I, too, had a baby last summer and am still trying to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight. I began my pregnancy overweight so now I really have a long way to go. I know what you mean about the changes in your body. Even though I was overweight before I got pregnant, I never had cellulite or a fat stomach. Now it is hard to even look at what has happened to my body! I wish, like everyone else, that there was a quick fix but I know there isn't and I just have to set goals and get there...slowly.
You know what my trick with water is. I have a 32 oz. mug that I fill a few times a day. It has a lid and a straw so I just carry it around all day and sip here and there. I don't know, for some reason it makes it easier for me to get the water I need. Sometimes I add some lemon or a drop or two of cranberry juice. Just gives it a little flavor.
Anyway, good luck to you. Looking forward to chatting with you!
