Default New RE Put Me on Diet!

As if I knew that wouldn't happen. LOL Well....it's crunch time everyone, I've put off losing weight for years but I finally HAVE to make the effort for my doctor (Reproductive Endocrinologist - specializes in infertility) to work with me.

I'm new to 3FC, I hope to make friends here and find a buddy (or two!) to support me in this long haul of a process!

I'm 22, weigh 277, 5'4, female and located in MO, USA.

Hey Angela, welcome to the boards! I'm a divorced mom of 2, a 4 yo girl Alexis and 10 mo boy, Daniel. I'm also a ft student (till I get a job that is haha) We have similar amounts of weight to lose too I think you'll find people are fairly candid about why their overweight and what they're doing to resolve it.
What are you in school for?

Hi!

It's so nice to hear from someone! *giggles* For the most part I am a happy-go-lucky person...I guess "bubbly" might describe me well. Hmmm..notice I said "for the most part" - because the other side of me is that I can get so depressed and want to binge on every food edible in the house. *Sigh* It's terrible.

Would you like to "buddy up"? I'm doing the old fashioned calorie/fat counting and exercise thing. What are you doing? I see you've already lost 21 pounds! Terrific! Congrats on that!

Feel free to email, pm, or post.

Warmest Wishes;

Angela

Angela- Do we have the same RE? Mine didn't really put me on a diet he just kept telling me how JUST losing 30 pounds would make his job so much easier. So I decided before seeing him again I'm going to be 30 pounds lighter and then some. I can do this ..How much does he want you to lose before he will work with you? I'm 5'1 and 231 and hoping to get in the 180's before going back for whatever my RE has planned for me AFTER the weight is gone.

This RE wants me down ALOT. LOL But the most important thing for him is to see that I am trying. So I am keeping a food chart along with my fertility charts and I'm bringing it all on our next appointment (so he will see like 2 months of healthy eating habits!). He wants me down 40 pounds. I figure that if I lose 10 in March, April, and May that will = 30 lbs. So that is my first goal (besides the small Easter challenge of 10 lbs). By June 1st I want to be 252.

Best Wishes to you!!

Angela

P.S. What is your dx? What tx have you done?

Looks like we are about in the same boat here. I plan to go back to my RE in July. I have PCOS and don't O very often on my own. I've done clomid and injections. The Clomid worked a few cycles then stopped working my RE told me then that losing weight and coming back after losing "AROUND" 30 pounds would help the clomid work better...at the time I didn't want to hear that so I pushed for injections...well a hurricane messed that cycle up so I never finished to see what the injections would do for me with out losing the weight. After all that I stopped everything and decided to just take a break. I was hitting to many brick walls. Well 2 years later I'm ready to start TTC again so instead of going in there saying I will TRY and lose weight...I'm gonna lose then go in and say whats the plan now that I lost the weight
What about you? What all have you tried and what diet plan are you following?........Lower calories/ healthy eating?

Chickenbee-

One thing I noticed is that on your long term goal you have that you want to get down to 102???? Considering that you are 5'4" - I don't think that is a very healthy weight. When you set goals that are so impossible to reach then you just set yourself up for disappointment and frustration then you will quit.

How about start with something like 150, then when you get there re-evaluate your body and where you are health wise, you can always set another goal if you still want to lose more.

-Just my thoughts

Losing4Another - It does sound like we are in the same boat!! It's amazing to read a story so similar to mine! 2 years ago the doc put me on a diet - lose 40lbs. he told me - I lost 20 and we started Clomid. I GAINED something terrible on Clomid - my eating/exercise habits were the same, but all of a sudden I was gaining and I gained back the entire 20 I had lost, PLUS 20 more! That put me at my highest weight (297). My doctor was not happy. He was very UNhappy and even a bit mean about it. I stopped ttc and stopped dieting and just sort of stagnated at 297 for over a year. Then finally on 8-29-05 I decided I had to do SOMETHING for myself and this weight loss thing is the something. As much pain and anguish as we have went through ttc, one would think that losing some weight would be something I would have happily jumped on board to do - but I didn't. I wanted injectibles but the doc refused me and that left me between a rock and a hard place. So I started dieting and over the course of these several months have finally started getting the weight off. I'm ready to start ttc again so I found a new RE to work with me, that will respect that I am doing something about losing weight (I'm keeping all my food/fertility charts to show him that I'm serious about this). Best Wishes to you! May 2006 be your year!

Sassy - Thank you for posting. I know that you mean well...and you are sharing ideas that you think will help me - I appreciate that. I did set my GW low, very low. On most BMI calculators, it is considered underweight or below underweight. But pushing for that weight keeps me going, it keeps me motivated. But as you noted, the chances are slim. In between here and there I do set minigoals - for the months of March, April, and May I am trying to lose 10 pounds per month. I'm lacking 3 pounds to make my March goal. That's 1.5 pounds per week and I think I can do it. I'm also on the Easter goal list here at 3FC for 10 pounds by Easter - that will mean I made my March goal, and am over halfway through my April one. (So I'll treat myself to a small piece of candy on Easter when I make that goal.) I'm also doing a Chocolate Challenge for Lent - No chocolate, no matter what form/type.

Best Wishes Everyone!

Angela- ME TOO!! I gained almost 20 pounds taking clomid too. I went in to my first RE appt after losing 22 pounds...didn't know weight would be an issue then but the health papers asked if you lost more then 15 within the last few months so I had checked yes. The RE was so proud of me and told me to keep it up. Lost another 2 before starting my first round of clomid...after the clomid I just kept going up and up before clomid I was 216 before starting the injections I was 233 ...My re had seen on my charts that I stopped losing and started gaining and thought the extra weight was keeping the clomid from doing it's job. Which came the injections and I told you that story already...We should keep in touch...wanna buddy up and be TTC/ weight loss buddies ? We can do this-lose weight and get pregnant again.
