Question A mother with a genda to lose 20 lbs as my husband loses 60

Hey there everyone. I am the mother of 3 great little girls. I have been lucky in pregnany only gaining about 30 per kid. Well in the last few years my husband has gained about 50 lbs. total while I have gained and lost after birth. I feel like I am lucky in pregnancy while he feels that he is fat and insignificant. I have gone on numerous diets with him but I always get sick as I am hypoglycemic and he always goes on low carb diets that make me weak. I try to make him feel good about himself but his weight gain always gets him down. We bought an elliptical last week and he insisted I work out with him. I have lost 5 lbs and he has lost none so now he is upset again.. I do not know what to do because I am the way I am by nature not by trying to outdo him. I do not know what to do. I love him more than anything but he contantly makes me feel like I am trying to outdo him......

Hi and Welcome!

Sounds like you have a little tough situation. Let me ask, are you telling him about your 5 pounds lost, or is he finding this out on his own. I think this would be something you keep to yourself. 5 pounds is noticable, but not as noticable as 10 or more. My husband is also losing weight along with me, (both of us are low carb) and he tends to lose it faster than me. That's just how our bodies differ from each other. Yeah, it can really irk me when I started 1 week before him, and he has already exceeded me by 6 pounds, but oh well... as long as I continue on, that's all that matters. Maybe try and avoid him knowing about your progress in the form of #'s. He'll notice in other ways.

Good Luck, and just support him as he needs. He'll probably get past it soon when he sees himself progress!
