Default Time for ME!!

Hi-

I'm returning after a LONG absence. And I am 25 lbs (a good guess) heavier than before. I sort of lost track & stopped caring while I was taking care of my father while trying to raise a 12 yr old boy alone. He has passed now and my son is back on track in school......NOW, it's time for ME, again!! Looking for anybody & everybody to be my buddy!! The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned!!

About ME....I'm a single Mom to a 12 yr old boy. I live on the Eastern Shore of MD. I work as a buyer for an electronics company doing work for the government...in this environment "gifts" are not allowed, so many of our vendors regularly bring in goodies that are very tempting to me (everything from bagels to donuts to chocolates).

Tell me all about YOU!!

sorry to hear about your father. must be a hard time! But you are right, it is time for you now. You have spent a lot of time trying to take care of two people, and now you can take care of yourself. My name is Melissa and I'm 21 years old. I am a senior in college, majoring in Organizational Management and a bank teller as well. I want to lose about 25 pounds. I am moving to Florida in May to live with my boyfriend... he is finishing up his schooling there in Resort Management. Feel free to talk with me anytime you need. My mom and I are doing weight watchers on our own, we've done it in the past and we have all the necessary booklets etc to do it on our own. What plan are you going to work on?

Thumbs up

Hi jumpd, I am a 26 year old divorced non-mother (unless you count my dog Pikachu, who is all the child I need right now ). My family has a history of weight and health issues, so other than wanting to be thinner, that is my motivation for changing my habits. I live in SE Virginia with a loving boyfriend who is very supportive, even joining me in my goal sometimes. I am not morbidly obese, but I have basically put on about 10lbs a year since moving to VA in 1999 and not being able to fit into more and more of my clothes was a big wake-up call for me. I am a "South Beach Phase 2 dropout" because as soon as I started re-introducing some foods, I fell off the wagon and ended up at a higher weight than I was pre Phase 1. For the past week or so, I have been keeping a food journal, paying attention to portions and calories, drinking TONS of water, and doing 30 minutes on my elliptical machine. I am staying away from the scales (they discourage me) and am just going to stick to the plan and see how I do.

Great to see you back and trying again!!!

I am not really using any PLAN right now...except staying away from the junk food & sodas. SODAS are my real downfall...I hate diet soda...so when I drink soda, I drink full sugar varieties. The other downfall is all the food vendors bring in. I am probably 190 -195 right now. I would LOVE to see 140...but I doubt that will ever happen. Maybe, realisticly, 160 - 150. I also need to start exercising again...UGH!! It is less about not enjoying the exercising & more about fitting it into my life.
Does anyone have any good recipes to do with frozen veggies? I buy a lot in bulk since I have to keep food costs down.

Default Welcome

Hi there,

Just wanted to say "welcome" to our group!

I've been a member for about a month now and have found tremendous support. Good luck to you!

I went to college in Salisbury, small world.

I want to lose about 50 pounds (maybe more) or reach a size 10!!

Take care.

I feel your pain here, jumpd. I had a terrible addiction to Pepsi (the regular and cherry kinds) for a LONG time before I was able to gradually wean myself from them. Oh the headaches I had as a result!

When I discovered Crystal Light, I was in total heaven, since I am not a fan of diet sodas either. My favorite kinds are the pink lemonade and raspberry ice flavors. Hits the spot, and now they have mixes for water bottles.

I also love the Diet Snapple peach tea.

My aim is 145-150; I don't want to be any smaller than that. I like a few curves on this body, but right now, I have WAY too many! LOL. On the good side, I have far less than I did back in March 2004, and it's only going to get better from here once I have the surgery.

As for exercise, I have a tape with a ten-minute workout that I do each morning, and of course, walking is the best form of exercise and I get in as much of that as I can.

Good luck to you--sounds like you are getting on the right track again

One thing I picked up when I was following the SB diet was Crystal Light Sunrise Orange drinks. There are 2 servings in each bottle and each serving is zero calories/fat/sugar and 100% vitamin C! They are really good and taste kind of like a lighter version of OJ......

Default Drinks

Crystal Light is wonderful. I also love those packets you put into your water to make lemonade. They are great, especially in the summer, helps you drink all of your water.
