Default thoughts on tough love

today it's monday so i of course started a diet. i made the mistake of discussing it with my mother. long story short she began to tell me how i really let myself go and look at my wedding pictures, what happened since then... this went on and on. part of me needed that kick in a##. the other part is wrapped up in saying what the **** did happen???

I'm not sure talking to your mom was a mistake. I think we need all the support of our families. I don't think she gave the right answer. I do think it is important for us to look at why we got fat in the first place. You can't correct something if you don't know what is wrong. I know I journal now and it really helps. If you need an email buddy you can pm me and I'll give you my email. Good luck on your journey. You can do it. Take it one day at a time.

I can speak for the mother. When my daughter 22 yo talks about losing weight I go overboard! I go on and on and on.
She is a beautiful girl, smart, accomplished and mapping out a wonderful life with the great guy she's marrying in May. There is nothing wrong with her. But if she wants to slim down, I can help. I just have to watch very carefully how hard and how far I push.
It's a delicate situation. You're mom is probably like me. She wants the best for you. But she probably just 'got going with gusto' ... speaking before thinking.
If it continues, in a negative way, you'll have to tell her that she's hurting you. In the mean time come on back to 3fc. We'll hold you up.

you are both right, moms only want the best and sometimes push to hard. my father always said - the road to **** is paved with good intentions.

and to lose weight you must accept the reason you gained weight to begin with. for me it's boredom and being tired. i am a stay at home and i feel both throughout the day.
