Smile 60 + Newbie

That's 60+ years, not 60+ pounds over. Sad to say, I am probably more than 60lbs + over. Anyway, I used to be a member years ago & I just signed up again today. I live in the Pacific NW with my ex professional fine dining Chef husband who incidentally does all the cooking in our house . We are our favorite restaurant! I absolutely have to change my lifestyle and get healthy. I have two grandchildren Zoe 19mths & Nicholas 6mths...my daughter finally acknowleged her ticking clock....I have to get into shape to keep up with those two munchkins. At my age, losing weight isn't that easy so I would love to hear from anyone who can relate. Actually, anyone who would like to buddy.
Happy Near Year to everyone.

Hi! I too live in the NW and amm over 60 years that it. I am relative new to this group. It really is harder to lose weight when we are older. I have been fighting the pounds since I was about 13. I have tried every diet and magic pill there is from speed (in the old days when it was legal) to Weight watchers to my most recent one, Atkins.

I chose Atkins because I am allergic to wheat, yeast, soy, and eggs. That pretty much takes up all the bread and pasta. So it is protein and veges, and that seems to work for me.

I also do weight training at my local senior center, as that really helps burn calories and shape up. I started out as a round ball, after 6 months, I was a round ball with defination, Now I look like a fire plug. Part of the problem is that as I age, I get shorter. I used to be 5'2''. Now on a good day I am 5' first thing in the morning and about 4'11' by nightfall.

So I know where you are coming from. It's hard, but YOU CAN DO IT!!

Hi Elder Elf, Congratulations on your progress. I can relate to the height shrinkage, me too. I haven't started doing anything yet, waiting until new year. So besides munching through the Xmas leftovers, I'm crossing the T's & dotting my I's, getting all my ducks in a row for the BIG endeavor. I'm in Everson BTW. Have a good one. Stick to it.
