Default Getting back on track. Need buddy!

Hi!

I'm getting back on track Monday and need a buddy! My name is Peggy. I'm 45 years old. I live in Illinois. I have been married for 23 years and have two sons ages 19 and 16. I am a preschool teacher. I have PCOS with insulin resistance and find it very difficult to lose weight. I am going to follow the WW Points with an emphasis on low glycemic eating. I am also going to try using cinnamon capsules to keep my blood sugar stable.

Hello Peg,
Welcome to the boards!! I read the boards all the time and find MANY things to motivate me. I don't post very offen though.
It seems that we have a few things in common. I live in IL, 46 years old, have been married for 27 yrs. (in Feb.), and have 2 children (25 yr old son, and 22 yr. old daughter). I am a special education teachers aide in an all special ed. school.
I don't know very much about PCOS but I do know that it makes it more difficult to loss weight. I have lost a little over 35 lbs. since last April. I am ready to get down and dirty now and get some more weight off now. My daughter graduates from college in June and I want to lose as much as possible by then. I go to Curves and walk when the weather is nice enough.
I am looking forword to hearing from you soon. I am sure that we can help each other and keep each other going.

Peggy, check out the PCOS part of the Dieting With Obstacles section. You'll find information and support there.

I too am starting over! I just turned 40 last month and I have two boys 18 and 11. I need to lose about 140 lbs and I need buddies to help me along the way. I am a business/technology teacher.

Good luck and we can do this together!

Hi Peggy
I almost could have written your post, except I live in Iowa and have a son 16 and daughter 4. I'm 46 and have been battling PCOS since puberty, but they didn't diagnose until I was 29. If you want to talk sometime, drop me a line.

Hi Peggy, sounds like we have a lot in common, I have diabetes, and I am on insulin as of last month, before that on the pills. I am from Illinois but have not lived there since I was 18. I am now 46, and have a 23 year old son, and a 22 year old daughter who are both married with children of their own.

I have never heard of cinnamon capsules, what are they suppose to do?

I just wrote a post above that tells a bit about me, its called, Newbie.

Perhaps we could buddy up... I am ready to get going with this, I'm so tired of feeling like a slug, and looking like one too... (grin)

Default Cinnamon Capsules

I did some research on Cinnamon capsules, and it is supposed to help regulate blood sugar and may help in possibly losing weight. Some people on my PCOS e-mail group is using them and is satisfied. I also talked to a woman in the nutrition store who takes them. I believe she said she was diabetic. I'm just curious if it will make me feel any different.
