Talking 'generic newbie title' :)

OH lordy! I just wrote the longest intro thread and of course computer blip and gone :'(
Ill just write another one that is shorter!

Hi

Ive been using a 3fc ticker for a while now and didnt realise there was an active forum! I was just searching around and clicked on a user's profile 'Meg' and wow, the pic was inspirational so I joined!

Im a 20yo fulltime undergrad student working part time as a sale advisor, I 've always wanted to lose weight and was always trying the fad diets or diet plans which I didnt stick to so hence didnt work for me, My main mode of transport is cycling, thats how I get to school and work, I walk everywhere else and I live in London, UK

Well starting uni this year I decided that I wanted to become 'healthier' and lose some weight a the health risks associated with being overweight.
3 months ago I Started this health kick and so far I have lost 10lbs and I want to lose 25lbs more, hopefully by july next year.
about a month ago it was reccomended that I increase my calorie intake, and I dont stop myself from enjoying food and I do have treats, but the food I now eat is generally better for me.
With gym memberships being as expensive as they are, having not so much time and generally being lazy/not motivated, I havent done that side of things, after speaking on another board however I have become moe motivated to that side of things and am going to sign up for a cheaper restricted student gym membership on saturday.

It has taken my a while to lose this weight and everynow and then Ill get to a point where I wont lose anything for a couple of weeks which is really disheartening, but this is normal, right?

Thanks for reading! and sorry this is a long paragraph!

Hey there! Since I'm that 'Meg' who got you to post , let me be the first to say !

Yep, it's normal for weight loss to fluctuate and plateau at times. What's important is creating a new lifestyle of eating and exercise that you can comfortably sustain for the rest of your life (forget those fad diets - they don't work long term, as you've learned ). It's sounds like you're off to a great start! And for the gym membership - that will be a huge help in reaching your goal!

We're glad you found 3FC! This is the place for tons of support, encourgement, and information.

Hello generic newbie!

I'm in London UK too! I'll be 23 in a few weeks I love meg's picture too!

Another alternative to a gym membership is some free weights at home (like me..) and going for a run at lunch time (Hate it but loving it at the same time!) and just generally taking the stairs etc.

to the board and check out the UK chicks forum and LWL if you decide on doing any kind of weight training, they are the LAW around here when it comes to weights and any problems!

^_^ Thanks! I wud try a gym at home, but Ive tried that method before, I dont stick to it.. have a membership(so if dont go lose money) and getting out of the house will be my incentive! I actally have a ab king pro in my room that I bought months ago with good intentions and have never used it
..Meg do u have anytips for the gym, I have never been to one before, I intent on finding a rowing machine and a sauna, maybe a running machine if Im not too embarrassed as I cant run, Ill prob be on there 60 secs and but completely out of breath :-* and does the exercising generally tone up and speed up weight loss?
