Hello everyone

Hello all,

I just found this site today and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Gina and I am 24 year old SAHM to a little boy and happily married. I've been trying for the past 5 years to lose weight and be a decent weight again. I am doing it again and hope this is the last time. I look forward to getting to know everyone here, you all seem like great people. Much thanks from a newbie!!

Tell me more!! :)

Hi Gina! I'm 26 with a 4 1/2 year old and I'm also happily married (which is nice to hear someone else saying it - so few people are anymore!!) Well, since this is a weight loss community let me ask the big question - what are you looking to lose? I would love to have a buddy that liked to post a note each evening or so. I'm on each night - love the internet! I just need someone to give support on the hard evenings and someone to share the daily joys with that might not even have anything to do with weight loss :)

Let me know if you're in the same boat!

Amanda

fl_mom 07-06-2005 08:25 PM

Wow, 3 happily married people in the same thread? LOL what are the odds of that happening?

I am a 27yo, sahm to 2 boys who are 6 (friday) and 20mth. My dh is in the Navy but not currently on a ship so I see him a lot more than I used to. We are currently trying for kiddo #3 but I am losing weight while we wait. I am following the south beach diet and I like it a LOT!!

I think I might post my IM info on here sometime but if you'd like it, send me a private message.

shortygal 07-06-2005 09:24 PM

Well it is nice to see some responses :D I have a bit more weight to lose than both of you, around 60 lbs :o But my goal for now is to drop 40. I am currently counting calories, eating healthier and trying to be more active. It's been working so far, so I want to keep on going! I would be more than glad to post notes or chat with both of you, I go online a lot, especially at night. Glad to hear you are happily married too...seems to be the minority anymore. I usually chat with AOL Instant Messenger even though I don't use AOL. My screename is shortygal2o1, or I have it entered into the site here. So if you'd like to talk more, drop me a post on here or message me anytime  Maybe we could all have a group chat or something sometime, thanks again for the replies!

Gina - ahhhh don't worry about what we need to lose. We'll just all do it together :)
FL_mom are you in? I think we should just check in when we can. Add eachother to the buddy list available on here and send a note when we need a helping hand or a caring ear.
Today was a good day for me food wise. I actually put a piece of pizza back on the pan instead of eating it. Plus I only had one sugar free fudgesicle tonight (even though I really wanted two!!!) I love that people that invented something chocolatey that is only 45 calories!!!!
Anyway I'm back to my "maintain" weight as I call it this morning. 155.5. I've hit 154 before but only for a day. 155 is my easy weight. I can yo-yo back to it almost easily it seems. Just can't get below it. I suppose I should blame it on the one 45 calories fudgesicle right !!!! :)
Anyway, I'm a walker and an elliptical machine junky. We just bought a home two months ago and to walk my neighborhood is 2 miles and it's a perfect de-stresser when I get home. I didn't walk tonight though - not even sure why i didn't. Anyway..
How are you gals doing?
Share your successes - they are sure to help motivate all of us.
Amanda - good luck gals :)

fl_mom 07-08-2005 12:03 AM

I am done typing the post but be warned, I rambled on so it is long! LOL

I am definitely in :D It seems 190 is my maintain weight, I seem to be able to stay at 190 no matter what I eat. Thankfully, now that I am on these new meds and following south beach, I am under that weight. My highest pregnancy weight was 215 the week I had my youngest and my highest non-preg is 205.

Gina- if you look at my tracker, my goal was 49lbs to begin with and I've lost over half that. Going by BMI, I should probably weigh about 135 or so but I looked good at 155 so that is what my goal is for now. Of course, my weight goals don't matter if I get pregnant! :dizzy:

My AIM is na799, I am usually set to away but since I am a sahm, I am here most of the time and can check if someone sends me an IM.

Tomorrow is my oldest kiddo's bday and he will be 6. I wasn't sure what to buy him, boys are much harder to buy for than girls imo. I ended up buying him art stuff like paper, crayons, markers, etc.. because he loves to draw. I also bought him a necklace and so did DH, one he can wear everyday and the other has a shark tooth that probably won't last long so it's more of a special occassion one. I am waiting for some computer games I got him off ebay but I don't know if they will get here by tomorrow. He knows he has a package coming in the mail though so he's been checking for it everyday.

shortygal 07-08-2005 01:59 AM

Hi ladies!

Nice to hear back from you. I had a good day today, I stayed within my range and exercised :D Glad to hear you had a good day also Amanda. Gotta love low cal snacks hehehe. I walk also either outside around the neighborhood or inside with my Leslie Sansone tapes, which I did today along with some weights. fl_mom my son turned 6 in March, he will be starting 1st grade this year :dizzy: He loves action figures, cars and doing his activity booklets for math, science and reading. I can only hope he will keep that interest! He was watching me do my walking tape today and was dancing along with it lol, made me smile. It's almost the weekend, which is usually the hardest time for me with food. We go out to eat sometimes and I try to stick with healthier choices. I am not sure what we're doing this weekend yet, but if we go out I will do my best to not go overboard lol. Do you gals have any plans for the weekend? I mentioned going bowling to hubby but he isn't sure yet. We sometimes go with another couple, they have a little girl that gets along great with my son. I guess I better try to sleep, I am a bit of an insomniac and tend to be up super late. So I will talk to you ladies soon and congrats on the weight losses!

fl_mom 07-08-2005 07:48 AM

Gina - your son's WATP dance had me laughing because last time I was doing my morning 1mile, I kicked over my youngest LOL He wanted me to pick him up and I kept trying to move him out of the way but still ended up kicking him outta the way. He was mad but he left me alone after that. The oldest used to do about 5 mins with me when he was about 3 but he lost interest pretty quick.

Birthday- Nathan will be in 1st grade this year too, he was the youngest kid in his class this past year and probably will be again. I was trying not to buy him toys since they get played with once or twice and then get thrown in a box.

I'd love to go bowling! We have a guy living with us right now off the ship DH used to be on, I think I'll ask him to babysit so DH and I can go this weekend or next. All of the friends I had in the area moved within the past 6mths so I don't have anyone left to babysit for me. Come to think of it, that means I have no friends here! ack :dizzy:

Looks like I have gotten into the habit of typing too much so I am posting this :D

shortygal 07-08-2005 02:16 PM

I have accidently knocked my son while doing WATP too lol, he would just look at me like What are you doing??? He eventually learned to stay outta the way hehehe. I know what you mean about toys, I have so much here. Since he has been out of school he has been actually playing with them, along with leaving them all over different parts of the house  Hubby has brought up possibly going to the movies today to see the fantastic four, which is not my sort of movie, so if that happens I will be hanging out here lol. I brought up bowling again so I hope he will get the hint ;) The last time we went was probably a month ago, so I am up for going again. Last time we went, they had the rock n bowl and there wasn't too many people there and it was darker, so I could make a fool of myself bowling without anyone really seeing me! My son loved it too, he was dancing all over the place and did pretty good bowling, we gave the kids their own lane with the bumpers.

My hubby used to be in the Army and we used to live in AZ, we're back home in PA now though. I didn't really have friends there, so I can kinda relate. And don't worry about typing too much, because I do the very same thing haha. So I will post this before I write a book :dizzy:

I am helping my kiddo rearrange his room but had to upload a few pics of another room on my website. I thought I would drop by and give you the link...

shortygal 07-08-2005 11:28 PM

Nice website :) I noticed the yellow walls and car border is exactly the same as my son's bedroom. He also has yellow walls and the very same border :dizzy: Looking good :D We just got in from going rock n bowling, we had a great time even though I did terrible!! LOL I hope you had a good night.

--Gina

shortygal 07-09-2005 02:58 PM

Well after my night of rock n bowling, which consisted of some pizza and some beer, I weighed myself this morning and it said I lost 3 lbs :D That aside I did some walking yesterday and worked with my weights, not to mention go to town cleaning my son's toy room which had to have burned some calories LOL. I feel like it's a fluke because I just can't believe it, I never lose more than 1 lb or so at a time lol. So now I have officially lost 15 lbs, yay! I hope to hear from you gals soon! :)

--Gina

young&starting-over 07-09-2005 08:25 PM

Way to go Gina on the 3 lbs. You know that I've found that some of my worst eating days are when I lose weight. I wonder if after depriving/skimping on the "goodies" after so many days that your body just actually uses sugar and fat in the "right way" (if there is such a thing). Though I wouldn't recomment doing it every day - pizza and beer are great every once and a while!!! hee hee
My husband and I enjoy social drinking every now and then but I've not drank in about a month now because it seems that EVERY time I do - I end up gaining a lb or 2 by the next morning. It's not worth the buzz to feel totally depressed the next day. I've actually found too that by laying off it for long periods that when I do go to have a drink that I'm a cheap date those nights too :) Doesn't take much when you don't have one that often - Ha ha.
Anyway. I've maintained weight these two days at 154 1/2. I'm begging the scales to see 153 - that would be the least I've weighed since my first year of marriage. I probably wieghed 138 when we married and it has just rose upward since then. My highest wieght was 218 with my son. 212 leaving the hospital after having him
Tell me how that math works === my son was 10 lbs 11 oz!!!! and I didn't even lose 10 lbs when I left the hospital after having him!!! (just so you know I had him natural too :) --- Everyone asks. Thank God for epidurals.
Anyway, my husband and I have been married 7 1/2 years. We're high school sweethearts. I started losing weight for me about a year after my son was born and I've just very slowly been maintaining and losing since then. I think that now that I've satisified my need to lose weight I feel like I want to make sure I maintain for my husband. He gives me an amazing amount of attention and I want him to always be proud of me as his wife. (don't get me wrong - he's never been negative about me...actually he's probably lied to me a couple times in the past when I asked the dreaded question "do I look fat in this" and he said "of course not honey you look great").....bless his heart!!!

I'll work on getting some pics of my family in my profile for you gals. I'm really blessed with an awesome husband and son and want to share them. Sounds like you gals are too.

FL mom keep up the losing!!! I'm so proud to see a woman on the right track before birth (or adoption). I wish I had the courage to do it before my son. I probably wouldn't have soo many stretch marks :)

fl_mom 07-09-2005 09:21 PM

Hey all!

Amanda - I have always had stretch marks, I started out a not thin child and then when I hit puberty, the PCOS and weight gain kicked in. I actually was down to 150 when I met DH (also in high school hehe) and about 160 when we got married. I weight about 190 when DS1 was born but then my PCOS got even worse, lots of cysts and more weight gain so I ended up being 200 until a few months before I got preg with #2 when I got so stressed I lost 30lbs in about 2mths from just not eating. The week I had #2, I weighed 215 and had been between 190 -205 since then. Ds1 was 8lb8oz at 42wks and I had a c-sec for shoulder dystocia, I am not made for these boys I guess. My DS2 was 8lb7oz at 37 wks and I had to have another emergancy c-sec. They had thought he would be over 10lbs full term, I think so too LOL

Gina- we got lucky and te people that owned this house before had already painted and put up the border. We were living in base housing before moving in here so it could have been pink and I would have been happy ;)
Sounds like your Dh finally took the hint about bowling, or did you just tell him to get in the car and went? lol I don't worry about eating off plan every so often. It doesn't seem to affect my weight loss unless I eat that way more than one night a week.

Well right now I am a little frustrated that the scale hasn't moved. I know the reasons but I would really love to see the number go down, kwim? Have a great Sunday since Saturday is already over :D

Hi ladies!

How is your Monday going? Mine is going alright, had a terrible time sleeping last night, so I am a bit tired. Not up for exercising today, but I'm gonna try! For the first time since I've started losing weight, I am actually able to see it on myself :D I believe my mid section looks a little slimmer, and possibly a little bit in my face, I hate having a pudgy face lol. So seeing that has really been a boost for me. My hubby and son are going for a walk/bike ride today, but its 90 degrees out and I said no way! I will stay in and probably do my WATP and do my weights, with my a/c! lol I hope you are having a good day, and I look forward to hearing from you :) Oh yeah I wanted to mention, my hubby and I are also high school sweethearts, how nice

--Gina

young&starting-over 07-11-2005 07:57 PM

Ok - have we found the secret to marital success or what!!! High School sweethearts all the way!!! by the way - how are you two's husbands on the weight loss thing?
Mine is a totally great guy but he has never had to lose a lb in his life. He just ate a 1/2 lb cheeseburger and fries and onion peels on Sunday and gained muscle!!! He has no idea what I've been through or what I'll go through for the rest of my life but he's never put me down that's for sure. He loves seeing the slimmer me every year as I've worked through this though....lots of wonderful attention which is nice. Anyone else with a husband who has never had to lose a pound?

Anyway - today was an ok day until dinner tonight. Kinda blew it on the meal tonight - a pot pie! They have a lot of calories - but I'm going to go excercise a couple of those calories off tonight. We gave plasma tonight so I kind of blow it on plasma nights because I'm starved by the time we get home. I need to plan for those nights better.

I'm so glad that you're seeing the results Gina! That's the one thing that will keep you going forever. I used to measure myself once every two weeks too. Because all of my clothes fit so differently that just using clothes wasn't a good enough "sign" for me. I had to see the #'s just like on the scale.
There's another question - how often do you gals weigh in?
I'm a daily ---- didn't used to be until this year. But I LOVE it. It has actually helped me maintain my weight better. I don't punish myself for the daily weight fluctuations - especially if I know that I did eat right and that it might just be water weight or muscle changes. But on the truely bad eating nights - the next morning weigh in does tell you that you need to buck up for the next couple of days. It's helped me keep the weeks in check. I never feel like I've "wasted the whole week away" - instead I feel like each day has it's own consequences and I can just start over with a better attitude each day.

fl_mom 07-11-2005 07:59 PM

Wow, we do have quite a bit in common. My Monday went ok, still raining, I think it's still from Hurricane Dennis. It was dry earlier though and in the 90's here as well, I don't remember if you said where you are or not.

I had a doctor appointment this morning and my official weight loss since since May 25th is 13lbs. My blood pressure is normal also, my first appt it was high.

Angela

fl_mom 07-11-2005 08:15 PM

I also weigh in everyday to see how I am doing. I used to average out the weights for the week and use that as my weekly weight. I started to do that recently and then decided not to. I like looking at the scale every morning and if it's more than 2lbs over my current ticker weight, I am really strict on what I eat for the day.

Hubby - My dh went from being on a ship for 4yrs where he was very active to working in an "shop" where he is not so active. He gained about 40lbs and failed his body fat test because he was 25%, in order to pass you have to be 22% or below. He lost about 30lbs in a month and passed his next body fat at 21%. He doesn't really have to work at losing weight at all. He didn't change anything he was eating but he did start working out in the mornings 3x's a week. I can just imagine how much weight he'd lose if he ate less fatty foods but he isn't interested LOL My dh is not a small guy, right now he's 228lb at 6'3.

As for my weight, DH knows I need to lose weight and has talked to me about it but never told me that LOL He has always told me that he loves me the way that I am but I would look good smaller also. He also knows that weight loss is not just something I can choose to do and knows I need medication and do following a strict sugar/carb limiting plan. However, that does not stop him from asking me if want things, like a cinnamon roll yesterday morning. He doesn't understand how someone can not eat the junk that he eats. I have always ate healthier type stuff but not limited carbs like I should. When I found out about the connection between PCOS and insulin resistance I tried to cut out most things. When I was finally diagnosed with insulin resistance, I started the south beach diet and here I am!

I should be on the compuer this evening, I don't have anything else to do. I think I'll be working on my website and have my IM's on.

Angela

shortygal 07-11-2005 08:38 PM

Hi Angela and Amanda!

My husband is currently trying to lose weight also. Although, we don't eat the same things, we eat what works for each of us. Exercise goes the same way, we each do what we like. For me its doing my tapes and weights, he goes out and runs and does weights. Then some days we'll go for a brisk walk together, and my son rides his bike, which is nice :) He is very good about my weight, he always tells me I look good and I'm not fat, but will admit to me being a little chubby if I keep asking LOL Which isn't insulting because it is old news to me. He has never pushed for me to lose weight, but does support my effort and is proud. He has lost around 15 lbs too, and I can really see it on him, he is slimming down and looking good. I didn't eat well today, I probably went well over my limit. But I take it each day at a time, and don't let that ruin everything.

I also weigh myself daily, after I've woken up and go to the ladies room lol. For me it helps to see the numbers, and as you both have said, if its up a little its like a little reminder to do well and stick to my guns. I danced around while doing some housework earlier to burn some extra calories  Then just a little while ago I did my WATP tape and my weights. I only did the 1 mile tape because I'm lacking in energy today, but something is better than nothing I say :D

Way to go with your appointment Angela!! That is great news. Hubby is supposed to be watching a movie with me tonight, so I should be popping off and on AIM tonight at some point. I usually come on and off depending on what I'm doing around the house or if I am out etc. So I will talk to you ladies soon :) Oh yeah, in case I never mentioned, I am from Pennsylvania.

young&starting-over 07-12-2005 07:42 PM

Hey gals!
Not a ton new here today on the weight front. The signature weight tracker thing here doesn't let you count the 1/2 lb losses but I have gone from 154.5 to the solid 154. I've hit 154 before but never ever gotten below it - hoping to do that sometime soon. It's been rainy here so I'm worried to take my usual 2 mile walk and get stuck getting drenched - so i'll do my elliptical tonight.
My exciting news is that I talked with the local University today and I'm meeting with an advisor next monday. I guess that I'm finally going to go back to school. I'm really nervous about it. I'm 26 and just now deciding that I think I'm ready. I started to go right out of high school two different times (even had scholarships and everything) but I dropped out. It just didn't feel right and I didn't know what I was doing with my life. I think I'm ready now :)
Anyway - I hope that both of you had a wonderful day!

Lots of support - Amanda

shortygal 07-13-2005 12:49 AM

Hey Amanda,

Congrats on getting to 154, I'm sure you will go below it :D The lowest I ever got down to when trying to lose weight was 149 and it makes me wanna smack myself that I gained so much weight. My hubby was in the military and he was overseas for 1 year, and I wanted to look great when he got back, so I did really well with losing weight. Unfortunately, when he got back we celebrated with food and I got comfortable again and gained. Back when I lost that I started at around 175 or so and made it down to the 149. This time I was at my all time high of 203, and currently at 188, so it stinks I have farther to go, but I'm not giving up!

Ironically, him being gone and coming back made me want to look good when we saw each other again. Last year in August, he was to be reactivated and sent to Iraq, due to medical reasons he was able to get out of it, but it took us 7 months to find that out, so all that time we were left waiting wondering whether or not he was going to go, which was a terrifying thought, so I wasn't in best spirits for most of that time, so I ended up eating a lot and how I ended up at 203. Luckily, that is behind us now.

As for today, I did well with my eating for most of the day until we went out to eat. I didn't pick something totally terrible, but it wasn't the healthiest choice either lol. I find its hard around certain times of the month ;) and I usually have cravings for junk! lol Congrats on going back to school, that is wonderful news :) I bet you will do great!!

Now that I have rambled forever, I will end this hehehe. Talk to you soon :)

fl_mom 07-14-2005 08:45 AM

Couldn't find this thread LOL forgot the name of it.

Amanda- Congrats on going back to school!!! I am 27 and still haven't gone back but I am busy being a mom so that isn't right for me now.

Gina- I know what you mean about wanting to look good for when they come home. I was able to do that once, got down to about the weight I am now.

I don't think I have ever been below 175 except before I got married. I am going to try and not get stuck again at that weight like I did at 178.

Do either of you have a lot of excess skin? My clothes would fit so much better if I didn't have all this skin, would be about 10-15lbs lighter I think too. DH and I have talked about me getting a tummy tuck but I have to wait until I am done losing weight and having kids, I don't think that will be for a long while :(

gruno_05 07-14-2005 09:11 AM

I'm a newbie too!!!

hello im a newbie too i just found the site yesterday. I just recently found out that i am a hypothyroid.... i am currently taking a otc med called thycin-atc and i started taking it yesterday and i can already tell a difference in my energy level!! Its great to be able to wake up and be ready to go first thing in the morning. i am also going to start watching what i eat, someone told me yesterday to watch calories, increase protein, and stay clear from soy products and that is a good thing to know cause i love my chinese food (lol)
Is there anything else i should watch for???
thank you
gruno :D

shortygal 07-14-2005 03:24 PM

Hi Angela,

Glad you found the thread lol. I don't have any excess skin right now, I just might if I lose all the weight that I want to though lol. I've been a bit off track the past couple days, I've just felt so hungry. Normally in the time leading up to the arrival of my "friend", I get some cravings...but I'm thinking since I don't indulge as much as I used to, I am having worse cravings now lol. I will be getting back on track today though, can only give in for so long until the weight starts creepin back lol. How is everything going for you?

Gruno: Welcome to the board :) I am not a diet specialist, so I can only tell you what works for me. I watch my calories daily and keep them within a certain range (calorie counting). I have cut back on my portions, and I do not freely eat as much junk as I used to. I try to make healthier choices everyday, instead of snacking on chips I will have carrots...instead of having some oreos I will have a low cal treat, such as those 100 cal cookie packs etc. I do not deprive myself of everything, because for me that is a road to failure, I simply can't make it if I don't ever get anything that I want. Instead I occasionaly give in to a craving or treat myself, without going overboard and still watching how much I'm eating and usually fit it into my daily count. I believe moderation is key for me. I also am trying to get more activity into my days, through either walking outdoors or doing some walking tapes I have for inside, along with some work with weights.

As you will read on these boards, everyone does all kinds of different plans or methods, but what works for them may not work for me or you, and vice versa. My advice would be to really look at what you're eating, and cut back on some of the not so good stuff, and try to include some healthier choices. There is lots of information and advice available through theses boards alone, not to mention other sites or books etc. I am sure with time you will find what works for you, it may take some trial and error...because this isn't my first attempt at losing weight, but it is my first time I feel truly confident that I will succeed :D It couldn't hurt to ask your doc for some advice or tips either. Again, welcome to the boards and everyone is here to support you!

young&starting-over 07-15-2005 06:51 PM

Well, gals I didn't want to post yesterday in case it was a fluke but I hit it!!!!
153!!!
The least I've weighed in since highschool!!!
I'm so excited. I wanted to make sure it wasn't a water weight thing and that today I would be back up - but nope - it was real!
Seeing the #'s moving has helped me to keep sticking to watching my food though. I'm worried though cause my friendly time of the month is coming at the end of the month too and I don't want to give in then to stress cravings. I get true PRE-men symptoms. I'm fine while my period is going but it's before that gets me. I'll eat anything insight hoping it will keep my mouth full so that I don't go off at the mouth!!!

Anyway - I'm going to be positive and hope that maybe this weight loss will keep me a little happier this month. I ended up walking in the rain tonight - got caught in it I should say. KInda fun though because I jogged the last part and didn't end up panting too hard - guess it helped me realize that I can jog and not die!!!
hee hee

Girls keep it up - I wanna hear awesome stories from everyone! I hope everyone's families are doing well too!

Gruno : I'm hypothyroid too and yes - medicine helps tons - how old are you is you don't mind me asking? Just remember that the medicine is the first step to energy renewal - use this "boost" you feel now to jump start whatever program you decide to follow diet wise - If you do that you'll consistantly feel like you have progres. Trust me on this one - I've been hypothyroid since birth. It's not just medicine that will make you feel good - it's changing your way of life both diet and exercise wise too!!!
Let me know if you have any questions - I'm no doctor either but I've been through a lot with the hypothyroid so I'm probably know something.

Lots of encouragement and good thoughts to you gals!!!

Happy Monday  Figured I would check in. My weekend went ok, didn't monitor as closely as usual with eating, but weight is still the same so I guess I did alright hehe. I just got done with my WATP tape and about to get a shower. I hope you are all doing well and having a good day, hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Ladies :)

Also happily married with a baby boy who's a year and a half and I am 25 years old. My biggest downfall is overeating - I already eat healthy food, but just way too much of it! Just started my new way of living last Monday with counting calories. I was already walking every weekday morning, but now I have implemented Tae Bo videos as well. I have about 50 lbs to lose - it seems a bit overwhelming, but out of all the times I have started or stopped a diet, I have never been this mentally prepared or willing to do the work it takes!

Congrats on all your success big or small!
Melanie

Melanie - Nice to have you join! Yet another account of marriage success - yeah! :)
We're all here for the same reasons so welcome! I've loved this post because these gals actually keep coming back to post and it's nice to see some dedicated "internet buddies". I've posted on this site before during one of my previous low points in weight loss and sometimes you can't count on people to keep posting - but these gals are great!!!! Plus we all seem to have some common factors so it's nice to talk.
You can read through this post and tell a lot about us so you'll have to fill us in. Sounds like we've got a band of little boys running between us all too :)

Today was an ok day for me. I wanted to eat a lot when I got home tonight but came in here to the computer instead! Thank goodness - I feel like eating the whole kitchen. I can tell already tonight is one of those nights that the fridge and pantry will be calling my name.
My downfall is overeating too. I'm really good at resisting bad snacks all day but at each meal time I could just eat and eat if I wanted to. I'm also a food sneaker....anyone else do that? I actually hate to admit it but I guess if I'm ever going to get over and change myself I have to start being honest. I sneak bites when my husband isn't looking - not because he's ever made me feel bad but because it makes me feel bad. Geez - talk about stupid self - punishment

Gruno - Hey girl - you sound like you need some cheering up! Remember that stress and attitude have been proven factors in weight. Hang around with us gals and we'll all get through this.

So who's got a sucess story for the day? I really need to hear that someone did awesome with something - even if it was just that they didn't finishe their son's left half of a pop tart :)

Lots of encouragement - AManda

Welcome Melanie & Gruno!

Only 21 days till my 7yr anniversary :D

I am up about 6lbs this week but I asked on my other board and I am pretty sure it's from my fertility meds. I added a food log to my website to keep track of what I am eating. I did eat too much for dinner but I will just skip dessert tonight, don't need the added calories.

Amanda - I have been hungry ALL day and didn't go overboard until dinner. I used to sneak food too, even healthy food, because DH has always been skinnier than me and I didn't like him to see me eat. Late woot (congrat) for hitting 153 :)

Gina - You maintained, that is much better than gaining!!

Meldiggety 07-18-2005 07:55 PM

Amanda & FL Mom, thanks for the welcome!!

Amanda, I can totally relate when you said you struggle more with cutting yourself off at meal times - me too! I am definitley having to relearn portion sizes. I am sure it will get easier once my stomach shrinks, but sometimes I feel like I could eat double or triple of the food I am eating now! I will be coming back to this post because it it so filled with encouragement, it's just really uplifting ;)

I have tried just about ever diet out there, but so far, just watching my calorie intake (between 1600 & 1900 calories per day) and exercising seems the most realistic, healthy way to do it. How are you all doing it?

Also, who here has done Tae Bo videos? I can't believe it, but I actually have been doing Tae Bo cardio 5 times per week which is a 43 min workout. By the end of it, my face is beat red and I am drenched in sweat, but I know it's really working. Just getting through the whole thing is amazing to me since I never really was a regular exerciser :p

Keep up the good work, Ladies!
Melanie

Melanie - I am following the south beach plan. I have PCOS and Insulin resistance so my RE (fertility doc) told me it was the best plan for me. I am also taking a med to help with my insulin resistance.

I have never done tae bo, usually I do walk away the pounds, it's more my pace LOL This week I am not exercising since I was having pain/cramps, etc.. from the fertility meds I am taking. After this week I will get back to my videos though, I can do those even while pregnant.

Hi Angela,

South Beach is such a great eating plan! It is so healthy for your body (good carbs, whole foods, low on the glycemic chart, healthy fats), if it is working for you I think that is great! I am so sorry you suffer from PCOS - I myself have had quite a number of health issues (autoimmune disease/condition) in the past few years and so I can sympathize with anyone who suffers. You will be in my prayers for sure, & this week I'll specifically pray for your cramps! I've never done the walk away the pounds videos - what are they like and do they require any equipment?

Take Care,
Melanie

fl_mom 07-19-2005 06:48 PM

Melanie - walk away the pounds is like walking in place. She does change it up with kicks and that sort of thing too. You don't need any equiptment and there are different kinds, I borrowed one for abs from the library last week.

The cramps aren't bothering me anymore, am having pregnancy symptoms from the shot of HCG I got though. Everything will be worth it when I see those 2 lines again!

Hi ladies!

Welcome to our bunch Melanie :D I have to lose around 50 lbs too, so you're not alone. How is the calorie counting working for you? It's been working well for me. I have never done Tae Bo, but like Angela I also do Walk Away the Pounds...I have the abs one with the belt. It is a decent workout for me at this point, I get pretty sweaty :dizzy:

Angela: Wow, your anniversary is coming up soon. I will be celebrating my 7 yr anniversary also, but not until December :) I will be keeping you in my thoughts for you to see 2 lines soon :crossed:

I haven't even eaten a thing yet today and I'm hungry, so I'm off to eat hehehe. Hope you are all having a good day!

Hi!

I've done the Tae Bo tapes and would work up a huge sweat (smelled a little funny too ;) ) but i thought they were good exercise tapes. I haven't done them in a long time for a few reasons. First, I found that I was far too tired for what I should have been. The only thing I would want to do is sleep afterwards. And the second reason is the lack of space in my apt. I was hurting muscles just because I didn't have enough room to do it. But it was good while it lasted.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well. I haven't seen some of you guys in a while. :)
Keep in touch!

Hi Gina :)

Thanks for the welcome! Nice to know we have similar goals and lifestyles, isn't it? Calorie counting is going better for me than any other diet ever has! I am glad it's working well for you also. It is teaching me proper portions and how to get more bang for my buck - LOL!

Ralph, yeah Tae Bo pretty much kicks my butt - in a good way :) I know what you mean about not having room for kicks and other moves.....I manage somehow!

Feeling good today.....especially since I got the exercise part over with - LOL!

TGIF! :dizzy:

Just popping in to see how all of you are doing. I'm doing ok, been a bit of a lazy day here lol. Not sure what's going on for later. I am still maintaining my current weight and have not lost anymore yet, think it's cause I haven't been as diligent the past couple days. But I'm doing well so far today :) How about all of you, any more loss yet?? We gotta remember to keep our chins up and kick some fat butt  Hope to hear from you soon!

Hey Gina,

Where'd everyone go - LOL!? Good job on maintaining.....hey, I will take that any day over gaining! You can just hop back on when you maintain, instead of having to play catch up when you gain.

I am also doing well.....I still can't believe I have been exercising 5 to 6 days per week - that is SO not me! I am not complaining, I am just amazed. Everyday I think, gosh I won't be able to keep this up for one more day, but then I do. A day at a time I guess. I am still counting calories as well - I was on the high end of my calorie allowance 2 days this week, but it was still under my calorie maintenance #.

Kicking fat butt a day at a time - LOL!
Melanie
