Hello.

Happy Monday to everyone! I have not lost weight, but i am still putting on muslce. I'm looking leaner, my fat content has gone down, and I'm starting to exercise again pretty hard again. After this next exam (which is tomorrow) I should have more time to take care of the exercising bit.

I also found out something interesting. My boyfriend noticed that I wasn't eating much, but not loosing any weight. He had a theory that I might not be eating enough. On saturday, I ate a little more then normal (still healthy, though) and i think his theory was correct. i lost 2 lbs over the next few days and was eating more. has anyone else run into this problem? i'll keep an eye on it and keep you posted.

i've got my friend too :( blah. can't wait until its over already.

Hope everyone is well! take care!

Hi everyone...

Glad to hear everything is going well for you Heather :) My scale says I am a pound lighter today, I hope it's not a fluke! lol Sometimes it can be off, so if I see it the same tomorrow, then I'll be really glad lol I am happy how much I have lost so far, but I would really love to make it to 20 lbs lost...I'm ready to move past the 15 I've been at for a bit now :dizzy: Hope everyone is having a good day and hope to hear some good news :D

I'm soooo sorry. Been awhile since I checked in. Things have been a little more than crazy here. My husband had surgery on his hand last Thursday and then our work (we work at the same place) forced him into short term disability and they have just been weird / unreasonable about the whole thing. So we've spent some days feeling really stressed and trying to figure out financial things. All in all it's been a factor in me gaining back some weight this last week. I kicked myself on the scales this morning. But I'm not going to let that get me down. I'm right back on the band wagon again. Just finished just about 35 min on the elliptical and I think I got all 8 glasses of water in me today.
I've read through the posts and thanks for you gals just sticky around!
Angela I've done the calorie counting too and it's worked for me but I'm wondering if at the platuea I'm at if I shouldn't step it up and combine it with the South Beach rules to some extent.
FL-Mom - if you're stil out there can you post some more info about starting South bEach and if it's worth it and easy to stick to (not easy all over - no diet is - just easy to LIVE with)
Gals, I've got some more things to get done before the evening gets away with itself
By for now!!
Amanda

Hey!! I just wanted to check in and say I didn't forget about you all! I was on vacation, a spur of the moment one actually LOL

I will post more later but have to get moving right now.

South beach is hard the first 2 weeks, I only did phase 1 for a few days. I was already low-carbing because of the PCOS so I really didn't need phase 1. There is LOTs of info on the SBD board down below.

Good to see you posting Angela, was wondering what happened to you ;) I'm doing ok, still down 16 lbs...looking forward to when I can say 20 :dizzy: Hope you all are having a good weekend, talk to you soon!

Hey guys!

This has been a good week as far as eating goes. I've been packing nice little lunches and eating well. I only got the chance to exercise twice, I had a midterm this week that required a lot more attention then i thought it would, buti did alot better on it then i thought. so maybe that was worth it.

i did, however, run around the office for the past few days, so that helped out alot. haven't been going outside, its been WAY TO HOT!!! its been the step-outside-and-within-two-seconds-your-clothes-are-sticking-to-you kind of hot. hope everyone has been keeping cool.

i hope that everyone is doing well :) I'm sorry to hear about your husbands hand, Amanda, I hope he'll be okay. I'm sure he'll be back in no time :)

And Gina,I can understand the need for a 20lbs loss, I can't wait until I can see 20 lbs. too. Just hang in there and you'll see tweny lbs before you know it.

Talk to everyone later!

Hi all...

Good to hear from you Heather :) I hate being hot like that, stepping outside and just sweating within minutes. Glad to hear your eating has been going well. I'm still hangin in there :D Hope you are all having a good day, talk to you soon.

I'm on my way out to work this morning. Glad to see you gals are still sticking around. I've lost 1/2 lb of my gain back. 155.5 this morning. Did horrible this weekend though. I have to get on track. Anyone else in this slump lately?

shortygal 08-02-2005 04:46 PM

Yes I've been in a bit of a slump myself. My monthly friend came, so I didn't really do much exercising and had to battle some terrible cravings. It's gone now, but now I have to motivate myself to get moving again and make sure I am eating well. I know I could have lost more by now if I had been more on the ball, I've been holding steady at 15 lbs or 16 lbs lost. I feel I could have been down 20 by now, but as much as thats bugging me....I'm gonna try to just continue on track and know I will get there in time  It's nice to hear from you all and to have you check in...helps to remind me I am not alone! Take care and talk to you soon.

young&starting-over 08-02-2005 09:08 PM

Isn't it silly that we're all here to lose weight but a lot of us are "holding steady". What does it take to get past this!!! ahhhh I'm frustrated today. I don't want to starve myself but I'm wondering what to do. I don't want to fad diet either. I've done the adkins thing and lost almost 30 lbs on it but I don't think that it's healthy for me at this point. It helped get me from 200 to 170 but calorie counting and watching my eating and excercising has gotten me to the 150 somethings today. So now I'm asking myself what do I choose now? I've considered South Beach but it has soooo many rules about foods and some of them don't make sense. I don't follow food rules too well and I don't want to start something I can't finish.
Help - I need encouraging words right now.....
Amanda

shortygal 08-03-2005 03:31 AM

Hi Amanda,

I know how frustrating it is for sure. I could never see myself doing a fad diet, it would never work. For me doing the calorie counting and exercising is something I can see myself sticking with. I know no matter what I do to lose weight I will hit walls and have setbacks, but I also know I can't let that stop me for good as it has in the past. I get disgusted because I haven't lost much of anything lately, but I know that means I haven't been doing as well as I could be either. I think once I got to the 15 lb loss, I kinda was happy and got a bit lax about it all. Now I am ready to go forward and do the best I can do. Don't let some bumps in the road stop you in your tracks, just keep your chin up and keep going, and know you are not alone!! Hope you had a good night!

ralph 08-03-2005 12:17 PM

Hey guys!

i feel the same way with my weight right now too. i guess three's a crowd.

I always feel tempted by diet pills and fad diets, but remind myself that everyone slumps and we will start loosing the weight soon enough. and that watching what you eat and exercise is really the only safe and effective (although slow) way to get this done.

however, many many cultures do fast, and doctors do say its good to do every now and then and just for a day or so. not much longer then that. just keep up with the liquids (espeically this time of year).

Don't loose hope. I know everyone here can do it, you just have to hang in there. We'll all get there, no worries guys!

:)

Hi ladies!

Just wanted to check in and see how you're all doing. I'm feeling good today, I've gone down a pound, so I'm 3 lbs away from 20 lbs lost, yay :D I've been keeping on track the past couple days and I'm glad to see a result from it. I hope you are hanging in there too. I know its so frustrating, especially for me the results come slowly which I get impatient. But I also know its healthier and more likely to stay off that way, so keep that in mind if you're dragging a bit like I have been. Hope you are having a great day, hope to hear from you soon!

ralph 08-04-2005 11:03 PM

Hey!

Congrats on the almost 20 lbs Gina! :) i bet you're really happy to finally see the big 2-0 right? Keep up the good work!!!!!

Anyway, I've put on weight. Very, very bad. :( I'm really bummed out about it, but I'm sure my numbers will go back down, soon. I just want to keep them down forever. I did change my eating habits, so I'm hoping that will have something to do with it.

I did the Firm today (about an hour) and didn't eat much. It's too hot to eat. Blah.

Everyone keep up the good job! I hope everything is going well with everyone and will talk to you all later :)

Hi Heather,

Yes I am excited to know I am that much closer to the 20 lb mark. Don't let it get you down that you put on weight, it happens to all of us, including myself. I'm sure you'll be down again before you know it, just keep on track as best you can. Good to hear from you :)

Hey Heather and Gina!!

Are we the only 3 left?
Well you were both right slumps come and go. I'm on a real spinning yo-yo right now.
Today I'm at 152......my last "bad post" I was at 156. I'm really going up and down by lots right now. I'm trying to have faith that I just need to get my stress level down and trust in God instead of food.
I've been trying to change the focus in my life lately. Replacing food with faith is a big change but I do trust in God and pray that this is what I need.
Heather - you mentioned fasting before - ever tried it? I just finished a book at the library about prayer and it mentioned fasting just breifly and it intrigued me. I'm just worried that I would do it and lose a large # only to start eating again and gain and feel down.
Anyone else have kids getting ready to go back to school? My son is starting kindergarten and just buying stuff for his lunch makes me hungry !! :)
Trying to search the web for easy snacks - since I'm going back to school too I'll need something to keep me from snacking on the wrong things at/after classes.

Well gals - thx for staying in touch.
Gina - 3 more girl - you can do it!!! water water water - there really is something to the metabolism and water thing

Heather - been in the slump - it will go away - just don't give in to it

Hi Amanda, good to hear from you. Glad to hear you are out of your slump right now. I ate too much yesterday and was up a pound today :o So I know about the yo yo thing. My son is going back to school the end of this month, he is going into 1st grade. Hub and I were talking how we're going to need to do back to school shopping very soon. I can't believe how fast this summer has gone by. Despite my weight ups and downs lately, I'm trying to keep positive of hitting that 20 lb mark....I'll hit it eventually :dizzy: When I say my prayers I always ask God for strength and guidance to make the right choices. Most times I do, but like everyone sometimes I don't lol. Just as long as we keep going, right? Hope you are having a good weekend, talk to you soon!

Hello Guys!

How was everyone's weekend? And speaking of getting ready for school, I don' t have a kid going to school, but I am ;) I have so much to do before then. :dizzy: snacks that i love to take to school is dry cereal. espeically kashi (i like it because its whole wheat, 9 grain type stuff and its good for your heart, has fiber, depending on the kind you get. ) i also take a big thing of water and drink that for the day, just keep filling it up. however, one can only take so much with them. i try to make smart choices at school if i need to eat there. there are places to grab a salad or something better than a slice of pizza or something.

i don't know where i picked fasting up. but i find that it feels good to do every now and then. its just a day or two where you don't eat (but don't exercise) and drink water. it cleans out and purifies your body from all the nasty toxins and stuff. however, many religions (including hinduism, buddist, judism, christinanity and even muslim) fast before a major religious event. now people do it simply to purify their bodies. i looked up a website that has general info on fasting, why people do it, who does it, etc. hope it helps you out.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasting

Keep up the good work Gina!!! I know you can do this!!! We'll all get through this slump together.

I was in D.C for the weekend and did a TON of walking. it was also really, really hot. at one point i had sweat running down my face and into my eyes. we did the monuments at night (which is really cool! just bring the bug spray, i got so many bites on my legs :( ) but it was wonderful. d.c. is a really nice city.

i guess that's all. i better end here anyway. i tend to go on and on and on..... ;)

take it easy guys!

:strong: :grouphug: :cheer:

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to check in, how's it going?? So far so good here, I got on the scale today and was 18 lbs down :dizzy: It's taken me forever it seems to get this far, since I have fallen off quite a bit in the past month, but I am hanging in as best I can, can't help but have some slipups
I got a different Walk Away The Pounds DVD in the mail this week (netflix), so I am going to give it a shot today I think. I am so grateful for air conditioning, because it is so hot and humid here today, there is no way I would want to be out walking in it. Yet my hubby will go out and run a few miles in it, yuck! But good for him I guess lol. Way to go Heather on walking in D.C in the heat, you are more brave than me lol. Anyhow, I hope you are all doing ok & I hope to hear from you soon.

--Gina

ralph 08-16-2005 08:45 AM

Hey!

Glad to see that you're still around! :) I've been doing well, thanks. How are you doing? I've been busy with school, but after tonight, I'll have off for two weeks and then I go back for Fall Semester.

My weight has been going well. I fasted on Saturday and ate well on Sunday. It seems to have worked because I dropped about 2 lbs. I haven't weighed myself today, but will get around to it.

I hope you're doing well. Did you get to 20 yet??? :?: That would be awesome if you did. :flow1:

Hope everyone else is doing well! Talk to you all later!

shortygal 08-17-2005 12:10 AM

Glad your weight loss has been going well. I am at 18 lbs down, we were out Friday, Sat and Sun doing different things that didn't allow me to easily calculate my calories, but I maintained my weight and didn't lose anything...but glad I didn't gain anything either. I'm hoping to get to 20 very soon. It was nice to hear from you, keep me posted!!

--Gina

ralph 08-29-2005 09:44 PM

Hey guys!

It looks like things have been busy for just about everyone. I hope you all are doing well.

The weight loss has not been going well here. I've actually gained weight. But looking to get it down, espeically when the semester starts and I won't really have the time to eat and will be running around all over the place.

Anyway, just thought I would say hi! Talk to everyone later.
