Default Introduction

I found this web site and forum looking for low or no fat salad dressing recipes. Boy they sure are difficult to find! I just made up my own.

I started this journey just before Thanksgiving 2004 after receiving the results to a blood sugar test. It was 113! I've never had a problem with high blood sugar, always used to be around 70. That result and the way I felt about my body and life propelled me to do something about my situation.

This time I decided to do some research before beginning a nutrition and exercise program. I love research! I found what works for me and I continue to tweak my program.

Recently I discovered my carb/pro/fat ratio was off my goals. I downloaded a calorie counting program and began to chart what I was eating. After a couple of days on the tweaked program I dropped 1 inch total. That tells me I'm on the right track.

I follow a 50% carb, 30% pro and 20% fat nutrition program emphasizing whole foods. My exercise program is two-fold; cardio on my stationary cycle, 30 minutes 4 to 5 days a week and lifting weights 3 times a week.

Well that's it for now until I find an interesting thread to read.

Hi, I have a couple of low fat dressing recipes and i'll dig them out and send them to you.

It's easy to slip when you're trying to eat right and you end up getting off tract! I've done it many times. It helps to write down what you eat each day. Some how, seeing it in prints makes it more real and helps you calculate better.

I also do 30-40 min of cardio a day (or almost every day) and I lift hand weights for upper body strength. I usually just walk or do a tape for the cardio but I do have a treadmill and a bike that I use. What ever I feel like that day, and what ever the weather dictates. right now it has been too hot to walk outside so the treadmill and the bike are getting used!

I'm actually using the downloaded program CalorieKing and all I do is plug in the foods and it tells the percentages and calories and grams eaten. I like that a lot!
