Smile Just thought I'd introduce myself

Hi everyone,

I would just like to introduce myself. I am an overweight (190 lbs) thirty-year old that woke up one day and didn't like what she saw anymore. I have slowly been making changes over the last year or so, such as quitting smoking and steering clear of MacDonald's, as well as returning to school after eight years to finish my degree. Although I have altered a lot of my eating habits, and I haven't gained any more weight, I haven't really committed to excercising.

I have chosen training for a triathlon (very slowly, so as not to hurt myself) as my preferred form of excersise, because it's cheap. I have a bicycle and legs and I can swim. So here's hoping!

I don't really know what group I fit into so if anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears.

thanks vixen...triathlon is just a far off dream, but i like the variety of workouts they have for beginners, cause it's hard to just "join" a sport at my size, ya know what I mean?

I understand. I'd love to get into something over here. Not a sport really. I'll do that when Im a bit more confident. Maybe dance lessons or something. Something that doesn't feel like exercise but it is. Im in the Middle East so there are alot of belly dancing classes here. Im not wearing the outfit though!!

Love,
Deanne

what are you doing in the Middle East? Are you from there or just working? Are there lots of gyms or is it pretty much just belly dancing?

My husband works over here. Im from Mississippi and so is he. We plan on being here for 5-6 years. There are several gyms. We even have Golds gym but they're very expensive. Plus they have totally seperate days/nights for men and women. Women have seperate areas for almost everything. They have banks for women only. The hairdresser is women only. Oh and they have "family sections" at restaurants. No bachelors are allowed there. Anyway, I want a gym that I can go to anytime that I want. Otherwise, its not worth the money.
