Default Rewards?

They say it's good to reward yourself for meeting certain goals. How do you reward yourselves?

I never rewarded myself for goals. I just rewarded myself daily...for the heck of it. LOL! I was so fascinated about dropping sizes that I was constantly clothes shopping. Hubby thought I'd bankrupt us.

I always reward myself for every 5 pounds I loose! Just a little something, but it is an incentive to work for and something to look forward to! A pedicure for summer sandles, and new nail color, any thing BUT food! I say, go ahead and get that tan!!!!! But not untill you reach your goal!

Pick an item you realy want and when you reach your goal, buy it!

I had a friend who really liked Buffy and when she lost 20 pounds she got to buy the next season in the collection... that was insentive enough to keep her going...

Ok then, I rewarded myself with tanning too...and new jewelry, and new hairdo, and....

LOL

But yeah, when I got down to a respectable size, I tanned, for the first time. Even keep a little heart tan tat (heart sticker that keeps that section from tanning) by my belly button. Always felt before that putting my rather large body into that rather small pancake machine was just too spooky to contemplate.

That is so funny, I too wanna start tanning as a reward! The gym I go to offers tanning, and it just so happens that my membership allows me 4 free tanning sessions, but I do not want to start until I lose another 5 pounds. So, since they are free maybe I should pick another reward! Hmmmmm?!

I made up a series of 'little' goals (about every 2kg/4.4lb) and bought a charm for my charm bracelet each time I reached a goal. Now I wear my bracelet if I go out somewhere there will be 'trigger' foods eg a party with chips/peanuts etc. It's my reward and reminder all at once. My big 'goal' rewards have been things I couldn't get into at my previous size eg some new jeans, some knee boots (wa hoo!!)

When I lost 10 pounds I rewarded myself with a year subscription to the magazine Self, something I wanted AND was positive for my weightloss goals. I havent decided what I'm getting myself for my next 10 pounds- but that's ok because it's pretty far away...well hopefully not THAT far away!

LuvdBy3Angels= I dont think it matters that its free... I would still consider it anyways This way its even more rewarding because you waited!

Default Tan Now!

Hi Y'All!
I'm rather new here (not to the battle of the bulge)...and my answer is a little different, but based on my own experiences of "waiting until I lose..."

I say, if tanning makes you feel better about yourself RIGHT NOW, then do it now! If you feel better about you, you are more likely to stick with your program! Think of this as rewarding yourself for being good to you!

Then you can reward yourself with jewelry, clothing, massage as you reach your incremental goals. In all honesty, there's nothing I want badly enough (externally speaking) that will keep me from eating wrong... ok, that's not totally true...an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii might work!

I know I have a long way to go, but I am starting AGAIN... armed with Dr. Phil's book, gym membership, a trainer and my brother (former Army Special Forces guy) to hold me accountable... I will be successful this time!!! One step at a time!!!

My 25 year battle with weight started when I was 13 and my dad offered to buy me a new wardrobe if I'd lose weight... I was a junior size 13 at about 5'7"... the "motivation" didn't work except to begin my obsession: I did my first "fad" diet at age 14, and thus began the yo-yo syndrome...

If I'd only known then what I know now... Where was Dr. Phil back then??? (Then I'd have known not to "internalize" my dad's comments...etc., etc., etc.,) Thus my reasons for not putting much stock in "external" rewards... but that's my experience.
