Lightbulb Just looking for some friends on this journey...

Hi. I'm 25 yrs-old, 5'5+1/2" and 150 lbs. (maybe less after today's weigh-in). I just started Weight Watchers in an atempt to better myself and lose 30lbs. along the way. I used to have an eating disorder (anorexia nervosa with bulemic tendancies) in high school, and it seems like my weight has been a roller coaster ever since I was "cured". I'm at the heaviest I've ever been, and I'm miserable.
I'm an Industrial Designer for a display company, and I also coach competitive volleyball. I live with my BF of 2 and 1/2 years in a house he owns with our 3 dogs. I'm pretty athletic and I get a lot of exercise, but sadly, I've found, this means nothing if you eat like crap.
Just looking for a few friends that are on the path to self-discovery as well.
Good luck to all - Karen

Karen,

Success comes with a positive attitude.

Small steps at a time.

I understand your eating disorder.
I dabbled in being bulemic from time to time, but since I have gotten a better sense of self I am doing fine. I do think about it every once in a while.

When I went to OA, when I was a young adult, there was an anorexic there. Your life is sad. I applaud for you getting help.

You have to think about this as a life style change and not a diet.

Put yourself first and do not let the food rule you.

Hard, yes.
But, you CAN and WILL do this.

Hi Karen13!
I'm 25 as well and have a lot in common with you. I excercise/am active but yeah....I eat anything I want and therefore don't lose...but the excercise keeps me at least from gaining a ton. I weigh 163 right now and want to get to an original goal of 150 that I've had for 4 years now. (see my 1st posting) I would love to weigh 140. I'm not the normal girl body type. I've got a lot of muscle and I don't think that I'm fat right now. I think I look chunky in certain pictures of me and I've got the whole stomach issue going on. I like to think that I'm pretty at the top and the bottom but I've got issues in the midsection. I sympathize with your eating disorder issues. I'm not just like you there but I'm an emotional/boredom eater. So even though not the exact same I've had issues before. I think that I have great will power but it's whether I committ to turning on that switch in my head. I've got a great attitude about life though and that's my positive that keeps me trying. I'd love to hear from you more if you think we could motivate eachother!!
My name is Amanda by the way.
