Can ya help a chubby lady????
I'm new here and have been reading some posts. This sounds like a great place to come and get some emotional support in a very tough weight loss journey.
I'm 42 yrs old and sit behind a desk for 7 hrs a day. I was in a serious car accident in May 04 and still looking to get some relief from the injuries. I was going to the YMCA on a regular basis prior to the accident and would love to get back to it. I would love to lose about 35-40 lbs. I'm only 5'3" tall and my cw is 173. I haven't gained any weight since the accident. I eat healthy, lots of fruits, veggies, chicken, fish, turkey. I consume about 1200-1300 calories a day, but I can't seem to get the weight to come off. I had a hysterectomy about 13 yrs ago. Would love to connect with a buddy if anyone is willing. Hope everyone has a great day! |
HI! and welcome!!!!!!!!! sorry to hear about your accident hope you will be able to get back to exercising soon as I think that goes along with the way you eat!!!!!!!!at least you are on the right track maybe if you can ask your DR for some type of exercise that you can do now that might get you started in loosing something mine is limited as I have a bad knee and hip so cant do what I would like to do as I pay the pain later on if I tryalso had a hyster 5 years and I cant seem to loose the weight that I wantand being short as you are doesnt help with the weight I am 5/5 and people cant believe that I weigh155 but I sure know itLOL well have a great day Rita

Hi Rita - thanks for reply. I am working with a phyiscal therapist doing some exercises, but it's just not the same. I have had 2 - C Sections and many other female surgeries prior to the hyster - I truly believe that my hormones are all out of sorts. I have talked with doctors to see about a blood test to have them checked, but I get no where. Have a great evening! Penny
|
Hello and Welcome Penny. Sorry to hear about your accident. Sometimes it takes the body awhile to heal and get back on track. You haven't gained any weight since the accident-good for you!! Your hormones way have something to do with the weight not coming off, you know you may have to keep searching until you find a doctor who will respect you enough to listen to you. Anyway keep checking in we are here to help. God Bless.

HI! Penny sometimes you have to really shop around for a dr that will listen to your needs!!!!!!!hopefully soon you will find one at leat you are going to a physical therapist maybe who can give you a couple of tips concerning a exercise that you can do while you are limited just dont give up on yourself at least you havent gained any so hang in there and have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!! Rita

Thanks ladies for the support. I am still looking for that Dr. I am working on some exercises and I am sooooo ready to lose more weight. I realized last night that I have fallen back to where I'm not eating enough throughout the day. When I did 6 small meals and kept the water up, that is when I am able to lose the weight. So back to the basics. Have a great day and thanks for the support! Penny

|
Hi Rita - your pool sounds like fun - yep sounds like walking to me. I do like sweets at times - just not real often. I think I keep that under control with eating fruit - today I have some strawberries, blueberries and kiwi for a fruit salad - I will top it with some almonds. I brought same yogurt and green beans for lunch, also made some homemade rice pudding, I just used 1/2 of the sugar it called for. It's good, but not like mom's.
Have a great day! Penny |
Hi Chubbylady and Welcome!
I joined on yesterday and I absolutely LOVE this website. I made my first post yesterday and two members responded right away with words of encouragement and great advice. For the first time in a long time, I don't feel alone in this journey. I am 36 years old, 5'9" tall, weighing approximately 250 and wearing a Size 18-20. My goal is to lose 75lbs by May 2005 and now that I've found this site with all of these wonderful, supportive people and all of this great information, I finally feel like the weight loss is within my reach. I suffer from a chronic back problem that keeps me bedridden a lot of the time, so exercise has been difficult to do but I'm determined to improve my quality of life and be happy with who I am and the image that I present to the world. I just wanted to say hi, welcome you and let you know that you are not alone in this journey. Good luck and if you need a buddy, I'm here. Epiphany1968 Chicago, IL |
Welcome to 3FC chubby!!!
I think that you'll find the support you need here!! This site has been invaluable to me!! Michelle |
Thanks Epiphany1968 & Michelle, I have already learned a lot. I would love to be buddies Epiphany. Keep up the good work ladies. Penny

Dear Chubby Lady
Hi Chubby Lady!
I completely understand where you're coming from. When I first started my business 4 years ago, I spent about 18 to 20 hours a day in my home office. This lasted a full year, and needless to say, I gained a ton of weight. I grabbed any kind of fast food I could get my hands on, was extremely stressed out, and had very little sleep. It's been a long hard road, but I lost 30 pounds... then gained ten of it back. I'm working on it:) One thing I wanted to mention was your user name. It's cute, but the mind works by listening to how you talk to, and about yourself. *I hope this makes sense, it's very early for me.* Anyway, people spend a great deal of time talking about how fat, poor, ugly or stupid they are, and don't realize that the mind accepts those message and thinks that that is what they want. The mind is a very powerful thing, it does exactly what you tell it to do by accepting the messages you give it. Remember the saying "Mind over Matter"? Even if you feel you're chubby, you need to tell yourself that you're lean, strong, healthy and beautiful. Eventually your brain will pick up on that and help you to become that. I've put this to the test over the last 3 years, and it really works. I've completely changed my life, although it's not perfect, I've seen the evidence. I still have weight to get rid of, and am still working on my self-esteem, but it's all greatly improved. There's another saying "Fake it 'Till you Make It". Think and act as though you are the person you want to be, and that's what you'll become. I've been through many surgeries, and times where exercise was impossible, but a few years ago I found a program that worked really well for me. It's called Body Flex. I've read some posts on this site from other women that have tried it and it worked for most of them as well. It's basically aerobic breathing with some body positions. I lost 15 pounds and 19 inches within the first month. There's a lady that gives the instructions free. I don't think I can put her URL on here, but I'll give you the instructions on how to do it: "Initially "The Skipped Breath" was created as a technique to help jumpstart losses for those not seeing results with the "BF" breath. Anyone can use it, but since I provide my routine free, I would say, if you have purchased another program on the market and it has been working for you then only use this one to break your plateau, because you will reach one. Exhale the stale air Deeply inhale through your nose Hold for a count of 5 Pah Tuck tummy as tight as you can Exercise position Hold for a count of 8 to 10 This is where it differs from "Body Flex". Instead of the last inhale through your mouth, which is better known as a "gasp", you will release the position and deeply inhale through your nose to start your next rep in the set. The only time you will inhale/gasp is at the end of a set when you are changing to a completely different position. You will also notice during the set that you don't do the first exhale during the routine. You will do it to start a new position set, but not within a set. So let's try it again. Exhale the stale air Deep inhale through your nose Hold for a count of 5 Pah Tuck tummy as tight as you can Exercise position Hold for a count of 8 to 10 Release the position as you are doing the next breath. Deeply inhale through your nose Hold for a count of 5 Pah Tuck tummy as tight as you can Exercise position Hold for a count of 8 to 10 Hence the "Skipped Breath". I believe this works by keeping the heart rate up longer. Looking at the way some have read the instructions in the past, I realized they were not sure how the count to 5 or the 8 to 10 count was done. The counts are a moderate count, not a second count, not too fast and not slow enough to be seconds. I like to call them mini seconds. Incorporate "TSB" into your daily routine. Those of you that do more than one set of "BF" a day should use this for one of those sets. The longer you can go without taking your gasp and the initial starting exhale the better workout you will get. In other words, if you can do a whole set or more without taking what I consider the resting breaths, (gasp, exhale), then you will really feel a blast. Of course you may feel like you are going to pass out from exhaustion, but you won't. LOL!!!! Proceed with Caution! You may get light headed if you have not properly learned to do deep diaphragmatic breathing. If you experience dizziness or headaches then check out my breathing instructions. IF YOU ARE PREGNANT PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS ROUTINE DURING ANY TRIMESTER STAGE. The Skipped Breath method and the "BodyFlex" program are not recommended to be used if you have GLAUCOMA." If you would like the site address, you can e-mail me and I'll send it to you. My e-mail address is: [email protected]. Just be sure to put "From 3FC Memeber" in the message subject so I know it's you. Take good care of yourself. BTW, from now on I'm going to call you LSHB Lady (Lean, Strong, Healthy and Beautiful Lady). Many blessings! Bombshell2k |
Thanks Bombshell2k - This will help me alot. On occassion - like the day I signed up here, I was feeling chubby - hench the the user name. If I knew how I could change it, I would... Hmm something like IMSPECIAL or as you suggested LSHB Lady.
Thank you for the information, I'm sure I will be contacting you later to inquire more about it. Thanks, Penny |
You're so welcome Penny! I wish you all the best. ;)

|
Hi Rita!
Thanks for the welcome. I'm sure you can find some really inexpensive Body Flex videos on eBay. I've also found them at my local thrift stores for about 2 dollars. It's been the most healthy weight loss I've ever experienced, so best of luck to you. I do have to mention that it's really important to follow the instructions on the aerobic breathing techniques since it's the key to weight loss. It only takes 15 minutes, so it's very easy to fit into most schedules. Take care! Bombshell2k |
Hi Rita & Bombshell - I would love to join. I will be looking for the Body Flex videos. I have been trying very hard to lose this weight for a very long time. My daughter has decided to get married (finally after all they 5 children together) next month. I would so love to be in better shape for the big event. :cb:
My biggest area of complaint is the stomach. I am going to see the doctor today so hopefully she will have some advise. I have been taking Xenical for 2 months and lost 1 lbs!! grrrr Well off to get ready for work. Have a great day ladies! Penny |
Body Flex
Hi Penny!
There are two different Body Flex systems. The original comes with just two videos (sometimes 3 including the advanced 9 minutes workout), then there's the newer one with the toning bar and a newer version workout video. I found one of the older ones (what I used) on eBay for 7.99. Great deal, but it only has an hour left on it. Watch out for high shipping prices! :yikes: Either one would work for you, but I'd start with the original until you get use to doing it. I think I'm going to start using mine again. I also started the Windsor Pilates which I asolutely LOVE!! I was really starting to see a difference, but ended up having to have two surgeries which set me back quite a bit. Pilates takes a bit more time, and is quite a bit harder and more intense, but well worth it if you have time. Have a great day! Bombshell2k |
Good morning girls thanks for the info on the tapes will start with the first one as it will take me awhile to do that will get my daughter to go on e bay as she is a regular there well you and Linda have a great day Rita
|
Good Evening ladies! Thanks for the info on the tapes. I went to physical therapy today, they said that right now, I need to work with them to get my back/neck/hips stronger. They advised that I stick to walking and using the elipical machines at the Y. They told me I am trying to get to the finish point to quickly and I will end up hurting myself more. The doctor yesterday gave me a referral to a dietician, so hoping they can tell me something! To bad most of the one's I was referred to can't see me until Sept! grrrr - But I am going to keep looking for someone willing to take me on.
Have a great evening ladies! Penny |
Hi Penny!
Even if you can't do any of the body postitions, you can still benefit from the breathing part of Body Flex. You can do it while you're driving, while you're watching TV, or just about anything else. If you can do 10 breaths 4 times a day or more, you'll speed up your metabolism. You can also do it before and after eating. Sometimes if I eat too much and feel horribly full, I'll do 10 breaths or so and the fullness goes right away. You end up metabolizing your food more quickly that way, so give it a try. Air is free, so you have nothing to lose but weight :cheer: Take care! Bombshell2k |
Thanks Bombshell - I will be checking ebay for some tapes - doesn't sound like it will hurt me any - that's for sure. I have a very strong will to succeed in losing this weight no matter what I have to do! :strong:
Hope you have a great day!:flow2: Penny |

|
Hi Penny and Rita!
It's a beautiful day here in Western Washington :sunny: You know, you don't have to wait to get started on doing the breathing exercises. The web site http://theskippedbreath.com has the instructions and body positions on there for free, so you can do it right away. Do it in your car, while you're sitting there watching TV, or whatever else you may be doing throuout the day. Try to get in 10 breaths at least 4 times a day. Do it more if you can. Enjoy your weekend! Bombshell2k |
HI! penny . Bombshell hope you arehaving a grea day thanks for the e mail address on the breathing going to check it out as soon as iI am done here well Ohio is chilly and rainy today so going to take a walk in side the mall later on!!!!!!!!!!!!so have a great saturday Rita
|
Well, I spoke too soon. It's raining today  Yesterday was great, but it is Washington afterall. I'm taking a trip to Los Angeles on the 29th, so I'm thinking last night to myself that I need to lose some extra pounds quickly. I decided that I'm going to go on a protein drink fast for at least a week if not longer. I know, it's not the greatest thing to do, but I really need to go down there feeling good about myself.
I had something pretty devastating happen to me yesterday, so I need to do something to make myself feel better. Otheriwse I'd go crazy right about now. I wish life could be perfect and not throw any curve balls at me, but that's just how life is. I'm taking all of this pretty well (for now), but I don't think it's sunk in just yet. I'm sure I'll be crying my eyes out within the next few days, but hopefully I'll just get over it. I hope your weekend is going better than mine is. Take care! Bombshell2k |
So Sorry Bombshell to hear you are having a difficult time of it. Let us know if there is anything we can do.
Protein drinks are not the best way to go, it's hard you system. I know what you are feeling, cuz I went through the same thing when we were getting ready to go to Hawaii. It was really hard, I worked my butt off just to feel good when I left. My weekend was a wild one... kids ya know (teenagers at that)! Getting ready for the outlaws - mmm ahhhh in-laws I mean next weekend... Boy is that going to be a rough week. Bombshell & Rita - take care of yourselves!! :grouphug: Penny |
Thanks Penny! I'll get over it. I really want to look and feel good not just for the trip, but I feel like this thing that's happened to me, and the trip has given me some major insentive to workout and lose some serious weight. Maybe it's just about getting out of my own head for a while that will help. Or being focused on something other than what's going on right now.
As for kids and in-laws I know what you mean. I have both. My son is 12 and a half, and it's been a major change for me to deal with. He thinks he knows it all and is a terrible back-talker. Ugh, I want to pull my hair out sometimes. Luckily, my in-laws live in California, so I don't have to see them too often. My hubby and I take separate trips usually, so I'm lucky there. And we don't usually have any in-laws coming up to visit. My dad lives here by us and works for us, but my hubby and him get along great. He comes over all the time for dinner and BBQs. Anyway, you'll get through next week just fine. And the kids... well, they'll just be kids. One day we'll be sad that they've all grown up. So enjoy the time you have with them..... for better or worse. Have a great week! Bombshell2k |
Good morning Bonnie, and Penny well another dreary day in Ohio I have only been in that pool one time so far just hopeing that the weather changes by the weekend as I invited my oldest grandaughter over and I dont get to see her as much as I would like so was hopeing to make a day of it hopefully she can go ride my hubby horse also just got in from walking 4 blocks babysitting all week for my daughter as she left for Myrtle Beach so have her dashhound so right now with 4 dogs I am sure I will get plenty of exercise LOL Bonnie sorry to hear you are having a crisis will keep you in my prayers!!!!!!!!!!yes kids get younger each year with the smart mouthreally glad my kids are grown and out when it comes to that but at timeshave to hear it from my grandkidsLOL well my in laws were great all deceased so I was lucky hope everything turns out good for you this weekend Pennywell I better get busy and go clean so have a great Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, it's another dreary day here in NY. My son plays lacrosse and was in a tournament on Sat. Well the championship game got out of control, the coach and one of the ref's coaches for the other team but, is a teacher for the school my son goes to. Well it got really ugly, with several players getting ejected from the game, one of our kids ended up with a concussion. Not a pretty site..
As far as the out-laws go, well MIL is something else - drinker. FIL is not all there anymore and MIL treats him like crap. Can't stand to watch someone who can no longer defend himself be treated like this. It's like payback time, cuz he wasn't a very nice man when he drank. Bombshell, I hope you are doing better, I'm thinking about ya. Rita, don't clean to much - or better yet, if ya have enough energy you can come help me out... House is never clean enough for MIL.... :D Well, better get back to work.. Have a great day ladies! |
Good Morning ladies:) hope you are having a great day Bombshell hope your day is a better one for you just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and Penny to bad that it got ugly at the game sat I just hate to see that been there and done that when hubby was a coach for the little ones I think that was the reason he got out as it wasnt for the kids just fun and learning the adults got to emotional as for cleaning I have to clean my house I am glad that hubby isnt fussy about it any more!!!!!!!!!!!well got to go clean as I had my :coffee2:and now I need to start moving so ladies have a great day hey finally got some :sunny: and of course I have to work:( Rita:wave:

 Hi all!
Today was a bit better. Thanks for thinking of me! I really appreciate it. About the game, parents and coaches seem to take all the fun out of them for the kids, and take them far too seriously. It's sad really. They're setting a bad example for the kids. Did I mention that I bought a Salsa company? What a headache. I'm wishing now that I hadn't. Like I don't have a million other things to deal with. It's all about self-torture you know. I always seem to take on far more than I can handle. I also own an herbal company which (thank goodness) I don't have to do anything anymore since I have employees that take care of everything. But it's all still so much to have to deal with. Anyway, today was nice, but I didn't really get a chance to enjoy it. Busy busy busy! Tomorrow will be another busy day for me as well. I start recording my new hypnosis CDs. I'm also a certified hypnotherapist (can you believe it?). One day I'll run off to some deserted island and live out the rest of my life in peace and quite. No phones, no faxes, no e-mails. Ugh, One day ;) Have a good night everyone! Bombshell2k |
Hi Bombshell2k & Rita!! How's it going today? I'm feeling good today, so hoping to get in a longer walk today. Bombshell2k - what type of herbal company do you own? I used to make soap, lotions etc., just haven't had time to lately. Salsa company? My kids love salsa - what's the name brand and is it countrywide? Sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy.
I often thought about going to a hypnotherapist or to get acupucture, but I have no idea what to expect. You sound like you have a very full plate going on... Don't forget to take some time out for yourself. I sure hope things get better for you, I am thinking about ya. Hugs, Penny |
Hi Penny!
I'm glad you're having a good day. Mine os going well considering all the running around I've had to do today. The taping went well. It's actually kind of fun. We offer weight loss and body enhancement products. My salsa company name is Juan De Fuca Salsa, but we're just here in the Washington area. I guess the people that owned it before didn't have much time to get it marketed nation wide, but that's my goal. It's really good if you like garded fresh tasting salsa. But I want to change the recipe a bit. It needs something so I'm going to have to figure out what that is and fix it up a bit. Hypnosis is very effective for those that have an open mind. There's nothing scary about it, and you're always in control contrary to what you see on TV and in cartoons. No swinging watch, no hocus pocus. It's simply delving into the subconscious mind and changing old patterns. Some therapists are better than others, and techiques vary, so it's best to try some out to see if you like them and their specific techniques. Well, I'm heading out to the pool. It's a super hot day here. Friday is suppose to have record heat.... Ugh, not looking forward to that:( Take care!! Bombshell2k |
Good Morning Bombshell2k & Rita! How's it going? Last night about 10:30 my car lights came on - no reason for it, and they wouldn't shut off. Ended up having to disconnect the battery. Weird huh?
Bombshell2k, do you have a website? Does hypnosis really help with weight loss? I would love to learn more about it. I'm not afraid of it, my mom went to quick smoking, it worked for awhile, but then she started again. Rita - quit cleaning your house, you make me look bad. I am having company this weekend (friends) before the in-law arrives - having a cookout, so looking forward to it. Bombshell2k - my kids loves salsa - do ya ship? Well, gotta get ready for work. Have a great day and try and stay cool, it's suppose to be 84 and humid here in NY. Penny |
Good morning Ladies:)well cant believe it is Thursday already!!!!!!!!Bombshell you sure do have a lot on your plate but hopeing you have success in what you are doingas far as running away at times I think we can all relate to that:lol:hope you got to take that dip in the poolPeeny that is scarey when your lights come on and wont go off had a friend that her horn did that at work and she was complaing about the noise it was making and sisnt realize that it was her car so we had a good laugh over that one well girls going to get started early today as got a lot to do so you both have a great day and Penny still have to clean my house before my daughter gets here with her white glove:lol: Rita:dance:
|
Good Morning Ladies :coffee: How's it going today. We have a gloomy day, but that's ok, when I get home from work I have house to clean. Rita I have a MIL that had the white glove thing going as well. I have already got my exerise in for the day, but I still need to get my 3 mile walk in. My back has been killing me, but I feel better when I keep going.
What's everyone's plans for the weekend. Any menu suggestions? :?: The weekend weather is suppose to be sunny in low 70's. Seems quite strange for July. Well, gotta go get ready for work. Have a terrific day ladies.. :cb: :workout: Penny |
