New here and searching for pals!

  • Hiya everyone! My name is Jessica and I'm 27, trying to fight the battle of the bulge.

I've had weight problems since a child. I've done the fad diets and the yo yoing and everything and I'm sick and tired of it!

I started into this lifestyle change around October at 281 pounds and have managed to keep 15-20 pounds off now (the scale bounces between 261-265 on me often). I've been plateaued since January, which is frustrating, but that was also when I started into heavy exercise.

I'm currently on a 2,000 calorie per day lifestyle adjustment (no more diets!) and I work out at least 3 days per week, doing 20-30 minutes of cardio and an additional 30-45 minutes of weight training.

My muscles are getting all nice and buff, but I'm a little frustrated at the last of movement in the scale and the lack of inches coming off. I thought that signing up for these forums and the journals would help me to get my resolve back.
  • Welcome Jessica. I find that with weights I don't lose either fat or inches. It drives me crazy. I do the bare minimum these days and then get on with the cardio stuff - which at least seems to lose the inches.
Maybe you need to bounce the food intake around a bit to see if you can fool those darned evil scales. It will happen you know and with all of us it happens differently.
Good luck. Go post a journal entry setting out the food intake and the exercise and water for the day. Someone there will have some more suggestions for you. Or find one of the threads to post on. There's heaps of them all supportive to the cause. Hope to catch you around soon
