I am Dale. Thought I'd drop in and have a look see. Looks good so far. Seems to be a lot of support going on here.
I don't know what kind of advice I can give, little to none actually. I let myself go for the last twenty-five years and it is going to be rough to get back on a healthy lifestyle. I finally had to find a doctor last month because I was feeling so bad that I figured something was wrong. Was that an understatement.
I have Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and a good case of Acid Reflux, whatever that is. I had a follow-up visit yesterday and was given three different medications. Glucophage for the Diabetes, Uniretic for the High BP and Nexium for the AR. (He gave me some samples of Nexium on the first visit and they worked wonders.)
I asked a few questions about the kinds of foods I should be eating and he recommended the book "Sugar Busters," which is how I found this site, from the SB web site. I just bought it tonight at Wal Mart along with the "SB Shoppers Guide." Going to be some interesting reading for the next few days. Also, it is going to be kind of interesting around the house during meal times. Am I going to be eating something different from what my wife eats, or is she going to join me in the pursuit of better health and well being? Time will tell.
I have more of a reason to get healthy. Like I said at the begining, I am tired of feeling bad, so I don't believe this will be a "passing" fad for me. Plus the idea of having some kind of stroke or heart attack that disables me scares me more than than having something that kills me outright. I do not want to have the wife tend me because I am unable to care for myself.
So, I need and want to be healthier. As pointed out earlier, I don't know what kind of advice or support I can provide, but if you are interested, PM me or use on of the IM's I have posted.
