Unhappy Hello-new here

Hello, I came across your site at a time when I really need some help. I gave birth to my daughter 2 years ago, and like most women who have kids I have gained alot of weight. I used to be a size 8 and now I am a size 14-16. I feel horrible about myself, I can hardly stand to even look at myself in the mirror. I try to leave my home as little as possible, so that way I won't have to deal with the eternal comments of " what happened to you? You used to have such a nice body." lately, I have been exercising some at nights when my husband goes to work. He says he doesn't mind my weight gain-but I still worry that he's just saying that to be nice. I have tried Xenadrine -which I did lose a few pounds with and ZAntrex-which just made me feel jittery and dizzy.
Has anyone else ever felt like this? somedays are much harder than others. My weight gain has made me second guess my self in so many ways and has become a obstacle in so many aspects of my life. The old me-prepregancy- feels like that was a different person and that person doesnt exist anymore. I desperately want to feel better about myself and quickly! Any suggestions anyone?

Thanx for listening.

hi fairypunk, I hope you will be feeling better about yourself soon. An important thing to remember about becoming a mommy, is the " old you" will never again be the current you. I'm sure in addition to your wieght gain, you are probably feeling the immense frustrations of being the mother of a two year old, this is not an easy phase in your life. Any chance you're equating the "old you" ( physically) with the freedom that you had before you had to be responsible for this little person that is ruling your life right now? If you have time during the day, try taking her out for a walk, she'll probably love it, she'll be strapped into her stroller ( giving you total control) and you'll get some exercise, and be OUT of the house! WOOHOO, its a win win situation. I live in a place that's been too cold to take my baby out for walks each morning, and I am missing it SO badly. That was my one time of day that was totally for me, even though he was a tag-along. I walked with a freind who was also feeling cooped-up, and totatlly controlled by her baby's needs, and this was our most highly valued daily activity. We got adult conversation, much needed exercise, and even lost a little weight. But mostly, we just enjoyed feeling like our old social selves again.

I hope this helps, and if you'd like to talk more, I'd be happy too join in!

Lisa
