Introducing myself

  • Hi all-probably should have joined this site years ago as I am the poster child for weight issues that have had significant psychological damage on me. Obese since a young child, diet camp, starvation plus exercise and never ever being able to get below 145 (I am 5 ft tall). That 145 was only a result of being in Guatemala for 2 years with severe intestinal sicknesses. In addition to obesity, just never felt right. After having kids, things got even worse. Dr. claimed I wasn't exercising enough and was probably eating more than I thought. Tested my thyroid with TSH only-you're fine. Five years ago found an integrative dr who tested me for everything. I have: hypothyroid, adrenals completely shot, PCOS, etc. Started meds and supplements and have lost 50 pounds in the 5 years. But, watch everything I eat and exercise sometimes 3x a day and I cannot lost anymore weight. Being short makes it worse-my BMI is at 30 despite weight loss and diet/exercise. So so so sick of this. Guess I just needed to vent. It's so frustrating.
  • I understand. It's been a long journey for me as well and it took a serious illness last year to jump start my weight loss again but I've learned a lot from the illness about how my hypothyroidism (I have Hashis), my food allergies and my food sensitivities play into my weight loss efforts. I've found it's so much about WHAT I eat, not just how MUCH I eat. I eat a more whole foods (paleo meets primal meets Whole30 meets Anti-inflammatory diet) style these days and have cut out the foods I'm allergic too and have seen significant weight loss as a result. Keep working on it- sometimes it takes a while, but you'll figure out your own individual needs with time and the weight will fall off.
  • Thanks for your support!

Welcome aboard. I can tell you really needed to vent.

It's okay. We all do it from time to time.
