Lurker joining in

  • Hello!

I've been lurking here for a few months, and I decided today that it's time to join in. I've got ~50lbs to lose, and I've had good luck with Weight Watchers in the past so I've rejoined. My BF joined with me, it will be interesting to see how having my own live-in weight loss buddy/cheerleader goes for me.

I waited to officially join in because my resolution for 2015 was to spend a year NOT trying to lose weight...at the end of 2014 my ex husband dumped me, informing me that he had never been attracted to me, and had only married me because he thought that I would lose weight and become more attractive to him. I wanted to take a year so that I was 100% certain I was doing this for ME, not because of the ex, and I feel more than ready now, so I think it was a good thing.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to actually participating here and getting to know some of you. I really like the atmosphere here.
  • Welcome! I also lurked this place for quite some time before joining.
  • Welcome, wolfchan!
You are one tough chick and your ex is a total a**hole!
You are going to reach your goals for yourself, for your own happiness, good health and positive self-image. We have to do this for ourselves and nobody else, you are so right!
I wish you the best of luck!
  • Welcome! Agreed, you ex is horrible, I hope you reach your goals!
  • Welcome Wolfchan, it's great that you are doing this for you!

Best of luck with the journey, and I hope you find 2016 to be a year with more supportive & loving people
  • Thanks for the welcome! I am better off without ex-husband for a variety of reasons, and super lucky to have surrounded myself with some amazing people in the year since it all came apart.
  • Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyye c:
  • Hi Wolfchan! I'm new here also. Good for you for waiting until you felt ready to lose weight, and not doing it for anybody else!
It's great that you have a weight loss buddy but don't be surprised or discouraged if he loses weight much more quickly than you. Men's bodies are just different than ours. My hubby can eat whatever he wants and still stays thin. After a week or two at the gym he's already back in shape. It's just not fair lol.

Hehe, I don't know what to expect where DBF is concerned...he's got more weight to lose than I do, but he's struggling a lot more than I am already, especially since he works at Google and has access to unlimited free food, including a dessert bar with an array of WONDERFUL hand-made desserts less than 100 feet from his desk. I'd struggle with that too!
  • I am just joining too
I am weighing in at 184 and hardly any of my clothes fit any more.
Need a fresh start and some motivation.
My goal weight is 160. I would be happy there.
This site looks great. I hope that we can lose together
