Smile The final few pounds!

Hi there!

I've always been within the healthy BMI rate (usually at the lower end) but am currently bordering on overweight (BMI 24, weight 61kgs).

I'd like to get back to weighing around 53kgs and it's proving to be difficult.

I've started the NHS 12-week weight loss program, with the aim of losing around 2lbs a week. Day 1 has progressed well...but it's the will to stay on it that's challenging!!

I'm aiming for a daily calorie intake of 1000 the first week and then 1200 for the rest of the weeks and moderate aerobics/treadmill of 30 mins daily...and I'm giving up sugar altogether for that period (tough as I have a sweet tooth!).

It would be nice to have a weight loss buddy who's looking to lose similar amount of weight to push each other into reaching our goals. Any takers?

Happy dieting everyone!!

Hello there and welcome!

I am pretty close to you right now weightloss-wise - we're the same height, and I'm on the verge of getting back to the "normal" range (just 3 pounds more!), but would like to go back to 52 kg where I was when younger. I hang out on the featherweights-board, I think you might find people with similar goals around there!

Hello fellow newbie Plain Jayne! Thanks for your response
As you can see from the thread, the featherweights board is the place to be for folks like us. I see you're on course to lose the last 5 pounds (well done!) and I have about 20. Would love to hear what you did to reach your goal and if the weight loss is ongoing or if you've plateaued and if yes, what you're planning to do to lose those last pesky pounds! Hope to hear from you soon xx

Dear FFF (final few friends), Exercising daily, writing down food most days (LoseIt! app), having 2 "lower calorie" days each week (fasting isn't for me but 2 days of no alcohol and fewer cal meals) are my secrets. But I have to keep motivated and aware and keep doing these things. What are others' secrets?

Hi Jayne, my "secret" is...
I'm eating the same foods as I always do except this time I'm counting calories (portion control) and staying within the recommended limit to lose weight.

I used to only eat when hungry but now I eat something the first thing in the morning and every 4 hours until bedtime, this keeps the metabolism going and snaps my body out of starvation mode.

I've also been leading a sedentary lifestyle (jobless )rotting in front of the tv, which has ultimately led to all this weight gain. I've invested in a treadmill and run 30 mins a day now and put the WiiFit to good use!

It's been a week since I started this new regime and it has paid off as I've lost close to 4lbs. I'm upping my calorie intake from 1000 to 1100 this week to see if I can still lose the same amount...watch this space.

How's your dieting coming along?
