Hi guys! My name is Kelsey and I am 19 years old. I have read things on this site for a long time but decided to make an account so I had a place to be accountable for my weight loss.
A little background on me. I have been overweight literally since I was a baby. I recently (as in just about a month ago) that I have Hashimotos (its a thyroid thing. I don't really understand it).
The reason I am so dedicated to my health now is because I have had some serious health problems for the past 5 years. I have had 3 surgeries, been to more than 15 doctors and no one knows what to do for me. The most troubling side effect of the problems is that I have extremely severe, chronic abdominal pain. They recently took out my left ovary thinking that would fix the problem and I have only gotten worse since then. It looks like my next step is going to have to be a full hysterectomy, however I want to make sure that I am in the best shape I can be before a surgery like that.
I am also hoping that although the pain is not caused from the weight, that it will help to some extent as I lose it.
I am in dire need of something to change as my current pain is unbearable and I figure what I eat and how active I am is one way I can control it. I have been doing what I can for a while now and was pleased that when I checked my weight this morning that I have lost over 20 pounds! I don't weight myself much so that was a nice surprise!
I'm looking forward to this journey and having a place to hold myself accountable!
Hi Kelsey
I'm sorry you are having so much pain and that you may have to have a hysterectomy at such a young age.
Congrats on losing over 20 lbs..It sounds like what you are doing is working.. If you are doing it in a healthy way then Keep it up
Hi Kelsey! I am so sorry to hear about your health problems, but good for you on losing 20 lbs! Be sure to research probiotics and fermented foods for good gut health. Of course, you need to listen to your doctors, but since you say they don't know what to do, it wouldn't hurt to do some of your own research in helping them to find a possible solution! Keep up the good work and good luck!
