Hello!

  • Hi everyone!

I'm new here and am looking forward to progressing my weight loss journey with such a supportive forum I've read a lot of posts on here and you all seem lovely!

I a woman living in the UK, I'm 33 and I've been overweight for my whole adult life. I'm not at my heaviest any more but I'm not far off it. Currently 237.4 lbs and looking to get down to 140. I don't have a target date in mind, I just want to lose weight, be healthier and feel better in myself. My husband's doing this with me as he wants to lose some weight too so I'm lucky to have some support at home.

I'm not on a specific diet but I'm using MyFitnessPal and trying to stick around the calories that suggests, while applying some of the theory from Slimming World too (not mixing carbs and proteins, avoiding saturated fats, cutting way down on processed sugars etc). Just trying to make healthy choices that are sustainable.

I've got a FitBit, which I'm using to log my exercise and I'm trying to increase this. I've always lived a very sedentary life but I've recently taken up swimming again and I'm walking more now than I did before. Will be adding some strength training into it gradually too but one step at a time

    Nice to meet you all!
  • MaoMao! We are glad to have you! Sounds like you've got a plan and that's the first step to getting started. It's so great your hubby is on board to help and myfitnesspal is great! I use the app on my phone to keep track of my calories each day and I love it! You can adjust your daily calorie total if you want to bring it lower too. It suggested 2200 for me and I wanted no more than 2000.

So, sit back, relax and enjoy the site. As you get going look for the chicks up for a challenge threads. We do monthly threads to keep ourselves motivated! You can join anytime. Those are great fun.
  • Welcome. Those are all great steps you've listed, and it makes such a difference having support at home. Bet you see progress quickly!
  • Thanks so much for the messages and support I'll definitely check out the chicks up for a challenge thread, sounds like fun and a great source of motivation!

Looking forward to being a part of the forum
