When the weight was coming on I made it worse by getting very defeated and depressed. That would lead to 'why bother, whats the point' thoughts and eating more food!
It is depressing as none of my clothes fit, but also mentally i've realised how more depressed and anxious i am. it's a chicken egg thing i guess.
I have the support of my doctor around changing medications but i also need to get fit and eat healthier. I am planning on taking up running, pilates and eating low carb and maybe IF.
Regardless of the weight loss (I'm still at a healthy weight i realise but i feel bloated, lethargic, etc) i am looking forward to eating healthily, more fruit, veg, getting fit and maybe also looking at some techniques to manage my mental health.
Looking forward to giving and getting support, this place seems really helpful

Hi Minime87.
It's fantastic that you've identified a problem/potential side effect of your medication and dealt with it immediately. I think if you spoke to many overweight people you'd find that medications played some part.
When I was 19 I became very ill and as a result had surgeries and lots of medication. I went from a very healthy 135lbs to 185lbs in less than a year (with only limited changes to my lifestyle e.g. I didn't really exercise because the things I used to enjoy were now prohibited and I couldn't think of alternatives I could get on board with).
When I spoke to my doctor about it, their attitude was very much "Well you were warned that could be a side effect of the medications" which was true, but hardly seems like a healthy response.
These days the NHS is on a real campaign to prevent people from becoming overweight (which is great) and see larger people very much as the enemy. But they never really ask how it happened in the first place.
So basically I encourage you to really fight your corner with your doctor to remind them that any medication you're taking, you're taking to improve your health and that you shouldn't sacrifice your health in another way for this. They either need to change your pill or offer you additional support around weight management.
That being said it seems like you're very motivated to do this yourself without needing the support of medic. Just make sure you enlist them if you need them.
You seem to be well on the way. Best of luck to you
