5 years and 70 pounds later....
Hello Everyone:
Five years ago (on July 23, 2009, to be exact), I committed to myself to lose 75 pounds. I started coming to 3FC as part of my weight loss journey and found it invaluable. One of the very first posts I read was written by someone who had recently met her weight loss goal (she lost around 85 pounds, I think). The post was written on the anniversary of her weight loss journey and she said, "one year from now, you will be so glad you did this." That message really resonated with me--I took it to heart.
Over the next several months, I lost 50 pounds. I felt great! I was exercising regularly and eating better than I ever had. I had never had that sort of weight loss success before. I was so proud of myself.
And then... things changed in my life. Not bad things... good, actually. But, along with the change, came stress. I reverted to my old ways and....well, you can guess what happened next: I began gaining the weight back. Five years later, I have gained not only the 50 pounds back, but added 20 more pounds on top of that.
Am I disappointed that I gained the weight back? Of course. But, I learned a lot about myself, both while I was losing weight and while I was gaining it. I also learned a lot about what works for me and what doesn't. I am going to rely on those lessons going forward. I am determined.
3FC was a big part of my weight loss journey last time; I plan on checking in often for inspiration and support. I also hope that I can offer the same to others here as well.
One year from now, I will be glad I did this....again!
