Hello, everyone.
My name on this forum is "Dakini" and, long story short, I've been struggling with my weight my entire life. I've always had a weight problem, even when I was at my thinnest (which was a US size 12!). But since I am a little taller than most women and broader/wider, a size 12 on me looked really good and I'd be ecstatic to get back to that shape again!
Anyway, dieting has always been very hard for me because I have lots of digestive issues and depression. Because of these problems, I've been going back and forth from diet-to-diet for years now. I tried doing GAPS to heal my digestive and depression issues this past summer, and that was going great, actually. However, since I try to stick to a vegan diet (but now I'm back to just vegetarian), it was hard for me, because that diet basically consists of meat and bone broths!
So, even though I was losing weight and healing my issues on GAPS, I just couldn't handle eating all of that meat all of the time. But because of that diet I have realized how much I am lacking in certain vitamins and minerals (especially calcium, Vitamin D, B12 and magnesium) and have now instituted probiotics into my diet to hopefully help me out.
So, with all that said, I'm hoping I can stick to a vegetarian diet at the very least, supplement with foods rich in natural probiotics and minerals and get back to exercising consistently once more. I'm also going back to the only other diet program/tool that has helped me in the past, which is, the Weight Watchers point system. I have a "points app" installed on my smartphone, bought a points cookbook at a consignment shop today (it was so kismet how it was just waiting there for me!) and have already started a walking regime this past week. I think I'm finally ready to make this work!
Anyway, if you've read all of this, thanks! This seems like a really fun community (I've always heard about/loved the title "3 Fat Chicks on a Diet!") and a lot more user friendly than some of the other weight loss forums I've tried in the past. I look forward to chatting with you all!
