Unhappy Back to Square One

Hello all. I am joining in hopes of gaining support while re-starting my weight loss journey.

Last year I went from 225 lbs to about 160 lbs all within 5 months. I went from a size 18 to a size 10. I was ecstatic since I hadn't been close to a size 10 two years before that.

I lost it mainly by a low-calorie diet/high intensity exercise. It wasn't the healthiest of ways, but it did the trick fast. Once I laid off of the rigorous routine and started working at an office job, the weight slowly crept back over the past year. Now I am just shy of 200 lbs again. I absolutely hate myself for letting this happen.

I just started a job at a hip and trendy place. I am terrified to be judged by all of these people. I want to lose weight fast to avoid as much embarrassment as possible.

Hi TwistedGrin! Glad to have you! Low calorie diet/high intensity exercise isn't necessarily bad, unless you were eating so few calories that you weren't getting enough nutrients to fuel your body properly. I don't know how quickly you are trying to lose the weight now, but if you want it to stick, you're going to have to make changes that you can continue to do long-term. In other words, you need to make a lifestyle change, not just go on a quick diet. I would suggest you try not to focus on losing weight quickly and just focus on losing weight permanently. That means cutting calories and exercising but it doesn't mean you have to go back to low calorie/high intensity. You can go with low-er calorie/moderate intensity. Browse around here and you'll find lots of great information and advice on good ways to go about your weight loss journey. Good luck!

I agree with Jacqui D...its tempting to want the weight off super fast but if you want to maintain your loss you need to change your lifestyle for good not just a quick diet/exercise. You can do it!!!

Thank you all! Yea I was barely eating and working out hours on end to the point where I'd feel like I was going to pass out.. ha. I'm going to just slowly work in exercise and watch what I eat. It's just frustrating to restart this... again. I'm always up and down somehow. Gah!

And yes LawGirl88, we can definitely help each other out

Twistedgrin!
You can do it! I agree with Jacqui-D, take your time and make lifestyle changes that will carry over into maintenance. That being this is not not my first diet and I to am making bigger lifestyle changes. Good luck and I hope you find a plan that works.
