Thumbs up Hello everyone, new member Big Fat Rooster here saying hi

I was goggling for 400 calorie meal ideas when I stumbled on 3 Fat Chicks.

After a good laugh I knew I had to look at this site and was happy to see exactly what I expected, a support site for dieters started by some ladies with a sense of humor, just my kinda gals

Myself, some 18 years ago weighing in at 240 I decided to trim it off and did. I was only 54 years old then and much more able to exercise well to lose the weight combined with my diet plan of not buying fattening foods that I cannot resist, going food shopping only after I had ate so that overwhelming compulsion to buy everything that looked good would not hit me, and eating only when I felt hunger, resisting food otherwise. Some of the foods I cut out were milk and cheese which I loved, especially buttermilk.

I lived in a two story house by myself, so the stairway became my best exercise machine. I ran up and down the stairs like 20 times in a row, stopping at the top to do like ten push-ups or sit-ups or other things like jumping jacks, then ran back down to do the same at the bottom. I repeated this about 20 times a day and the pounds slid off. In a little overtwo months I was down to 196 lbs.

My stomach must have shrunk because it took very little food to make me feel full.

A new girlfriend with a compulsion to make me eat became a problem and after a year I pigged out during thanksgiving. I put on 12 lbs over that weekend. It may not have been the whole 12 lbs at once, but when I stepped onto the scales I had that 12 lb gain. My metabolism seemed to change and it was suddenly difficult trying to keep it off. I gained and gained. Now some 18 years later and at 279 lbs and 6 feet tall I find myself being told by a doctor what I needed to be told......... kinda. He told me to lose 10% of my weight and told me that was my goal. Well, he was wrong, I sure as heck won't stop at 29 lbs loss, I am going for the goal of 180 or 190. I think that is more than I need to weigh.

I started to lose this weight but due to the added 18 years on me exercise has become a problem. Bad knees and some artheritis make that a big problem. So I am finding other ways to exercise some, and started counting calories for the first time in my life. My diet plan so far this time is similar to the last time, I can eat anything I want to but in moderation and make sure to include fresh fruit several times a day. As I never did like sugar, that part is easy for me. Purt much said good bye to steaks and red meats, making salmon and grilled chicken take that place, but it helps that I like sandwiches made only with whole wheat bread, mayo, lettuce and tomato.

One month now and I have only lost 9 lbs, but I will have to be content with that rate.

Love what I have seen of this site so far

I will check in on this site from time to time and post my current weight status..... hopefully that will be losses
