Default New to this..

hello!

i am trying this as a way to help motivate myself and join a community. never used an online site before. I quit smoking and gained 25 pound. then my father unexpectedly passed away. for the most part ive stayed away from smoking by the weight is still on. im so tired of feeling uncomfortable in my body. i have tried cleanses, zone diet, but i cant make anything stick. i would love to lose at least 15 of the 25 pounds so i can start wearing jeans again. any tips for newcomers?

Hello and welcome. For starters, I'm sorry about your loss. I can only imagine how tough that is.

Second, congrats on quiting the smoking. That's a huge challenge and task to accomplish. As for losing the weight, I can only speak for my personal experience. I just started counting my calories close to 4 weeks ago and I've started P90X 2 weeks ago and I've lost 12 pounds so far and that's including the water weight I currently have thanks to it being that time. I don't know if counting calories is right for you or how much exercise you do but definitely monitoring what all you eat be it cutting out soda or cutting back on unhealthy food and increasing exercise will be a great start. Good luck!!

thank you monkey ruler! I appreciate that so much. I am worried about counting calories as I used to have an eating disorder and I worry about becoming obsessive about the numbers. One side effect of that is I never weight myself (although I see most people do for this forum!) Perhaps I will have to start by stepping on the scale (Eek!) First step is trying to be active 4-5 a week and then cutting back on the unhealthy carbs. No soda is a great idea!!

Hello all. I am very new the forums, threads, posts. So far I have my account created and added a picture, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to add a weight ruler. Would someone mind assisting? Thanks so much.

lavesly: go to user CP on the upper left of the screen and click on it. Then select user signature. There it will mention a "ticker". I use the one from the site that they list there, at tickerfactory.com. there you will create one with step-by-step instructions and it will prompt with the url you will copy and paste into the appropriate section of your 'edit signature' under 'user cp' on this site. Good luck !

Much thanks WannaBeNurse, I saw in my CP in red that I won't see it until after being a member for atleast 20 days, so I'll just wait patiently and then try your great information!
