Last night I had a reality check in the fact that I've let my weight get out of hand. I'm 250lb and 5'3". I want to end up around 130lb, is that still too much weight for someone of my height? I feel like I don't know what to eat! I'm cutting my portions down greatly. I've always had spurts of motivation to lose weight, but then I just lose track. Before I met my boyfriend (August 2012), I was hovering around 216lb, and was working out and eating healthy to lose that weight. Then I got comfortable because he loved me for me. Stopped working out, ate before bed, etc. And before I knew it, I gained all this weight. Now I feel sluggish, tired, self conscious. I've never joined a weight loss support group so I'm hoping this KEEPS me motivated!! I love hearing success stories of people who are similar to my height and weight. What is your secret to losing the weight? How do you keep motivated? When it rains outside, what do you do for exercise?? Right now, I want to start out slow and walk. I was going to walk today but it started pouring. I might still go walk, it's just rain. But if I do anything strenous (sp?) I get tired and burnt out so easily.
Hi Kalie! Just wanted to say hi and wish you the best in this journey you´ve started!
For me the secret is being consistent, and of course it is my biggest struggle, just keep going day in and day out. Whatever plan you choose you HAVE to be consistent, right now I`m trying to stick to low carb as my doctor prescribed me a low carb diet for my insulin resistance, but Oh God I´m finding it really really hard!
I love exercising so that´s the easy part for me, running, walking and exercise dvds, there are a lot of different types, walking dvds, turbo jam, martial arts, and you can do it in your living room. I love running and turbo jam and really recommend them!

I'm Kalie by the way! Nice to meet you all!
Nice to meet you darlin'! Whichever way of eating you choose...good luck! You are not alone. Sometimes...when I feel especially "lazy"...I just do squats while I wash dishes..or stretches on the floor if I am watching TV...simple things when the weather is not optimal. My secret to losing weight has been Atkins. It is very high fat..which makes me feel happier and never deprived. There are loads of people here who can help. Keep reading and learning.
Don't worry about a goal weight right now - just add in healthier foods (you know what's junk and what's not - add in veggies and fruits and whole foods) and let that crowd out any fast food, excess sweets, etc. Don't drink many calories. Use exercise for toning and health... and a lower calorie healthy food plan to lose weight.
Don't worry about being motivated - that will definitely peak and wane. Wanting to is one thing. Following through is another and what matters most.

^great advice!
I've also download a fitness app on my phone, it a calorie counter ad well.. It has helped me stay focused.
Hey there! I'm new to the site too, but not to dieting. What has worked best for me is calorie counting. I use an app on the phone called Lose it and just track track track everything I eat/do. It's keeping me accountable. My hardest struggle is before bed eating. My husband and I watch tv together and I tend to want to pig out since I'm happy and all loved feeling. Last night, I got out of bed TWICE to go get a brownie. This is after everyone has went to sleep. That one tiny stupid brownie was having that much control over me. So I said to myself out loud, "You don't need the brownie, go back to bed." I have these food battles in my head all the time and I can quiet the inner voice. Hearing it out loud, snapped something in my head so I stopped and went back to bed. Crazy right?
We're going through daily rain showers off and on. If you don't have an exercise DVD, just try putting something you want to watch on TV and walk in place, step side to side, do knee lifts, all during the episode. You'll be amazed how much exercise you can get, and not even feel like you're doing it.
Welcome! I'm new too I dropped from 240 to 200 before by eating healthy most of the time (with the occasional cheat) and watching portion sizes. I did it walking every day regardless of the weather. I hated it at first (its rain, ugh lol) but I got used to it and I bet you could too! If it's something you really want a bit of rain won't bother you Now if I could just listen to my own advice and get over walking when there's a bazillion black flies out lol. Best of luck on your journey and remember: you can do it!
