Hello everyone! I am new here and just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.
I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I am 26 and happily married for a little over 2 years (together almost 9). We have 3 fur babies (1 dog, 2 cats).
While I have always known that I needed to lose weight it has always been the elephant in the room that was never discussed. January 9 changed all that. I went to my annual doctor appointment and saw the three numbers staring at me...4-0-0. I felt so humiliated and ashamed. That was also when my doctor mentioned the prospect of having weight loss surgery for the first time.
Talk about a wake up call.
The prospect of having surgery is something that terrifies me. It is not an option for me. Since that day I have begun to make lifestyle changes to alter my fate. Since then I have lost a little less than 20lbs. While I have a long way to go, it is a hopeful beginning.
I don't really have anyone here (other than my husband) that can relate to me on this journey. I just hope to find the support (and possibly some new friends) as I begin this new phase of my life.
