Hi,

I have been looking for a good weight loss forum and I think this is it. I also post in miniminis but the board I use is quiet and I was looking for something busier when I found this. I started at my highest weight of 297lbs. My BMI was 51 so I went to my doctor and asked them to refer me for weight loss surgery. I looked into all the options and decided I wanted a Bypass. But I was rejected as in my area of the UK they wont help unless you have type 2 Diabetes of a BMI of over 60. Instead I went away and sat on it for about a year, I tried again hoping that things would've changed but they hadn't. So I started Oralistat. Over the previous year I had lost around 15lbs so I already had a good start. In March - June I lost a stone and a half about 20 lbs but then Oralistat shortages happened and I couldn't get any. I gave up again (Im good at giving up). I finally got a call from the chemist a week ago to tell me that Oralistat was back in stock, so I went to see the doctor, was AMAZED that over the summer I lost almost another stone without trying!

So here I am today. I was thinking about joining a gym but I am sooo unfit. I was Googling fat people and gym to see what I would be facing when one of the links brought me here and I read chickadee32's story.

Thats my weight story. I am 27 years old I have three kids (all boys aged 9, 8 and 3), 3 cats and a dog. I have struggled with weight my whole life, when I was 12 my mum broke her arm, long story short she spent a year in hospital due to complications from surgery to pin her arm and shes been unable to walk ever since. I comfort ate... I still do. My eating habits are terrible, I skip breakfast almost every day, I only eat lunch if we are out in town, KFC/McDonalds/TGI Fridays - every where thats bad for me and the I eat 1 HUGE meal last thing at night when the kids are in bed like an hour before I go to bed. Or at least I should say I DID all of those things. I'm not doing them now. If I have the urge to skip breakfast then I have a meal replacement milkshake other wise I have porridge and fruit or toast. Lunch is either a sandwich or a Low fat Low cal ready meal and dinner is usually one piece of protein and salad, not sure what I will do in the winter months about dinner since Salad doesn't sound as good then. But I always eat before 6pm.

Gym will happen when it happens, I don't have a car and I'm not currently working so getting into town and back is £6 a day, thats a lot of money when you really don't have it so gym will wait until I can afford it. In the mean time I have my Biggest Loser Total Workout DVD here and The Biggest Loser Power Walk DVD on its way to me, plus I have a cross trainer at home and one of those cage things that you do sit ups in (does it have an actual name?) I'm hoping to get use out of them more and more over the next few months.

Well I guess thats everything anyone needs to know about me. So hello everyone, I hope I get to know you all and I really hope I stick with this

oh my gosh I wrote so much :/ Sorry for the essay

Hello and welcome. Glad you are breaking those unhealthy eating habits...junk food really packs on the weight. And sounds as if you have some good exercise equipment. It's hard work but you can do it!

You will find a lot of support and encouragement here! So please feel free to just jump in anywhere and become a part of it all.

Greetings from across the pond! Glad you joined us.

Don't know what Oralistat is but congrats on the 45 lb/3+ stone loss. That's wonderful!

As far as exercise, gyms are great but not necessary. Walking is a great start and you already have some DVD's and equipment!

Good luck!!
