30 and looking to lose 150. NEED A BUDDY!!!

  • Hello 3fc world!

I need a partner. Badly. I'm the heaviest I've ever been (286), and I'm terrified that it will only get worse. I need someone to help bolster me up. In my real life, I have several plus-sized buddies that I hang out with, and while we talk about our weights and how we're planning to lose it, no one really seems all that interested in actually doing anything about it. Except me. Starting right now.

I am married to a fantastic man, but he is not much of a help on this score- he's a model and is half my weight. He also has a super high metabolism and needs to eat constantly in order to maintain basic physical functions (like sleeping through the night.) He eats lots of bread, rice, and fatty meat (it's his favorite.) He doesn't like the lean proteins and greens that I'm trying to eat more of... it's a real challenge to please us both. He's also more fit than I am, so working out with him is always disappointing because his stamina is nuts.

So, yeah. I'm feeling very lonely. I am totally the only overweight person in my entire family; nobody gets it, and they bring it up all the time.

Surely there is someone here who will be my accountabili-buddy! Someone throw a lifeline- I'm drowning!
  • Hey lady. Im 33 and although my journey might not be exactly like yours, I am totally willing to be your diet buddy. I am currently reading and following the Beck Diet. There's a forum section on here for it. It's not a "diet" per se (because you get to pick whatever nutritional eating plan works best for you) but a Cognative Behavioral Therapy solution. So far, it's been working!

I also have a hubby who has a mad metabolism and throws the same complications of eating right in the mix like yours does. (gorgeous wedding pic btw).

I've found that no matter what the metabolism, EVERYONE can benefit from eating healthy. I've found great ways to make my hubby's favorite meals balanced and healthy enough for me. The key is portion control and that can be tricky.

If you have a facebook, feel free to friend me. I'm facebook.com/mscoppertop

    Let's get crackin

  • there is a thread on 3fc called:

1o Days In The Life Boat #31

It is a thread that lasts 10 days and during each of these days, you can be accountable to your progress or just talk about your day.

The thread rolls over into a new one every ten days, and today a new one has been started
  • im 31 and am also struggling. feel free to message me

    **edit**

also, my boyfriend eats like a big giant hog and is completely fit. to top it off he cooks almost every single night and makes AMAZING, delicious food. ill watch him snarf down 3 or 4 full plates (seriously.. no exaggeration) and then put on his size 34 pants. its enraging.

I agree with the poster that mentioned the Dr. Judith Beck books; they are what really helped me through on my journey, and continue to do so in maintenance.
