Default New here and need to change my lifestyle

Hello Everyone, I'm not sure I'm doing this correctly, so please tell me if I'm doing this wrong. Didn't see anywhere to post except to click on the drop down screen and select new thread.

I'm a 68 yr old widow, recently retired.
I've had a weight problem for a long time, and now am diabetic. Recent Lab work showed my cholesterols to be on the high side, especially the triglycerides. 473! Should be below 150. Dr told me to take OTC Niacin, but the "flushing" was pretty severe so I'm not taking that anymore.
I have started taking Omega 3,6 and 9 capsules, and Cholestoff, plus a multi-vitamin for women. Also taking Sam-e.

If anyone has any ideas besides cutting my carbs (which is my downfall, I CRAVE them) and eating more veggies, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks! ..... Carbie

eating more whole grain helps flush cholesterol! whole grain breads, pastas, brown rice, flour. i too am a carb junkie w high cholestrol numbers n since switching to whole grains n watching portions my numbers r steady dropping! (even my sugar numbers r better n they r good anyway) choose healthier carbs n portion control to start!

Thanks Ladies! I got lost and couldn't find my post for a while.
I've been busy with transplanting lilys and hostas so at least I've been getting a little more exercise. Muscles were even sore yesterday.
I'm remodeling my house too and will be doing some of it by myself, .... like painting all the rooms and basement, finishing cabinets and putting them up, so maybe I wont be thinking of food so much.
Anyone else like that? I think I eat out of boredom. I can work at something, (especially outdoors) all day and never get hungry, but when I'm sitting around indoors doing nothing, I'm hungry all the time! Geesh!
