Default I am fat

I am new to this forum, and what I hope to get out of being on here is support for people like me, who have been a little bit over weight all their lives. I have been called fat by my parents ever since I was young, and i think that just scarred me for life. No matter how much I exercise, I find it impossible to lose the weight. I think in my mind, i believe that I will never be able to lose the weight. I am 4'-11" and weigh 148 pounds and probably gaining as I type, and I am only 24. I think that is very unhealthy for my age and size. This is also affecting my relationships with men as well. My boyfriend and I recently broke up, because I am so insecure, and I am always thinking that I am not good looking or skinny enough for him. Of course he tries to comfort me by telling me that looks is not everything he looks for in a girlfriend. But no matter what he says, I still don't believe him. I feel like crap. I don't want to enjoy life because I am fat.

My goal is to be 110, which I think is a good weight for my size. Please let me know of your success stories. I just need to know that losing weight is achievable.

Remember that the exercise you have been doing is very important, but a healthy diet is just as important (if not more). Find a diet or nutrition regimen that works for you and stick to it (trust me it's very hard for me also).

I truly believe that a healthy lifestyle diminishes insecurity, which will help you in your future relationships also.

Best of luck, let's get healthy!

Hello and welcome. And I agree with chickontherocks that a healthy nutrition plan is also key.

Another thing to keep in mind -- yes, things do affect us, but they do not have to "scar us for life" unless we let them. And I say this speaking as one who grew up with an extremely abusive, alcoholic father, so I certainly understand where you are coming from. But we can turn those scars into positive things and move forward. Sounds like you are trying to do that (I can tell that from your user name!!!), and I wish you well

Welcome to 3FC!

I'm glad you're exercising—that's important! However, like the above posters said, you need to really watch what and how much you're eating. Your food intake is probably 80% or so of your success. Exercise, unfortunately, doesn't make us lose weight...but it does make us fit!

I am totally convinced that exercise does, indeed, cause us to lose weight. Because, while of course what I am eating is super important, I lose a LOT more weight when I am exercising regularly. Exercise burns calories, and burning calories helps us lose weight. To me, it takes a good combination of the two... eating right and exercising.

Hey.... Welcome!!
First thing you need to do is.. Stop discouraging yourself. Being Fat isnt that bad! Second- You can do it if you believe in it!..

It wont be any easy road, but just get on it and stick to it. Dont expect immediate results and don't overdo.

Make it fun! Enjoy it .. and maybe you would see it wasnt that bad

I am sure the journey of losing weight is not so bad. I've just been fat all my life, and I just want to get rid of it. It affects everything in my life. My self esteem, my ability to focus, my relationships.... I am determined to lose the weight.
