Default 21/06/2012 - Day One........ Help!!!!!

HEY! I'm Toni, 19, 5 foot 3, 220lbs.

So, day one of my diet tomorow, but I'm clueless as where to start. Firstly, I have no idea how to set realistic goals. I dont know any simple healthy receipes and I'm addicted to dizzy drinks.

I want to get more fit and healthy as I keep having a few health problems recently which I believe are linked to my weight. Also, I have a wedding (OH mother) in August and I wamy to lose some weight by then.

So I was wondering if you ladies have any wise words or ideas to help me kick start this long journey.

Also, iPhone / Android users, I found a brilliant app called FitnessPal, brilliant for keep track of your intake and weight loss. If you are a member or going to download it, I would like some buddies on there to help me stay motivated.

Thanks, Happy Slimming!

Welcome to the fourm
Do you know what food plan you are going to follow? It sounds like you have found an app and are going to try calorie counting? I choose calorie counting because it is free and flexible. It allows me to eat almost anything I wanted as long as it fits within my calorie range for the day.
Give up the sugary drinks and drink lots and lots of water.
Incorporate some exercise into your weekly routine. You do not have to join an expensive gym try to walk more, use the stairs more, download videos off of YouTube or Hulu.com to work out to. There are a lot of things you can to do with spending a ton of money.
Lastly, if you have a bad meal, a bad day, heck, a bad food week. Do NOT let this be a reason to throw in the towel. Get back on track at the next meal. You can do this!!!
Best of luck to you!

Welcome, Toni! Have a look through all the diet plans & comments. Personally I think calorie counting or Weight Watchers are the easiest to follow but everyone has to find something that works for THEM. You'll find some debate among different options, but everyone is supportive regardless of what plan we're on.

Also, doubtless you've seen the UK group on the Site - and you may find the comments from those of us in the 'Colonies' entertaining as well!

Good Luck!

Hi there,

Maybe start off with what you are able to do; squeeze in exercise when possible, every little bit counts.

Also, try mixing tonic water with a low sugar/low calorie juice to wean yourself from soda. Although that admittedly has never been a problem with me since I hate soda XP

Baked sweet potato fries are my favorite healthy snack, and you can dip it in fat-free greek yogurt (I like to add a little feta cheese to the yogurt).
