Hi Everyone. My name is Melissa. I'm been working hard the last 2 months and I'm already down 20lbs. The last time I tried to lose weight I lost 15lbs but then lost my work-out buddy. This time I'm doing it on my own. Not paying any attention to what anyone says unless it's positive.
Most of my life I was at a decent weight till I met my husband and that co-ensided with getting a car and drivers license and a job... and that let me to the drive though and going out to dinner nearly every day of the week. I went from 172lbs when I graduated in 2004 up to 220 by 2006 and after breaking my arm this past July I went from 250 to 260 and said enough is enough. I was no longer going to buy any new, bigger clothes. Things were feeling tight and needed to get into shape.
I'm not working out 5-6 days a week and really enjoying it. I do weight training M/W/F and cardio T/Th and Sat or Sun. My gym offers a included meeting with the director of training to set up with a plan every 4-6weeks so I think this is what I needed to succeed. It's awesome to walk into the gym and have all the trainers say Hi to you by name.
I am kind of in the same boat as you. My favorite meal was always one that someone else would make :-) I was 270 at my highest, dropped to 200 and then am now back up to 230. The thought of getting anywhere near 270 again is what keeps me motivated.
Your gym sounds really nice. I just joined up with Weight Watchers and already today when I left the meeting, many of the members knew me by name!
You'll do great. I've already found a lot of comfort in the forums here and am sure you'll do the same!
On a side note: I'm from Wisconsin too. Right around the Appleton area! If you ever need motivation, look me up!

Again, Welcome!
I'm enjoying the forums too. I'm about an hour south of you. My husband and I love to camp in Oshkosh.
Melissa, welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diet plans, themes, or age groups, so find one that inspires you and just post to join.
