My name is Linda and I just joined this site hoping for advice when I need it, but mostly support from people that share the same goal.
On June 12th, I started my new diet with a friend of mine (who has since given up on it already). We read the Jackie Warner book - This is Why You're Fat. I love the book and everything in it makes sense to me. I have lost 17 pounds so far and don't plan on looking back.
I'm 5' 5" and started my diet at 227 lbs and now weigh 210. I am 30, married with a 9 mo old son.
Her book is great! Everything in it just clicked for me and made a lot of sense. When I started gaining weight away at college, I didn't know why or how to stop it and I've never really tried to diet before . . . but all of the sudden I just needed to do it. My friend told me about the book and it was super easy to follow, and I was amazed that it worked.
Every week when I weigh myself (on Saturdays) I am still amazed that I am losing weight because I really don't feel like I'm deprived or missing out.
I have been reading this book and really like it so far. I plan on starting next Monday. (Gee, isn't that what everyone says...?) No, but really I want to eat the 5 days clean and then enjoy the cheat meals on the weekend. I would like to know it anyone is taking all the supplements that Jackie recommends and any tips that could help a newbie.
Thanks,
I am taking all the supplements except for Creatine because I got all mine at Sprouts but they didn't have the kind she says to get and I didn't want to make a special trip.
I am doing well at following her plan, except for I have trouble with the water, haven't started exercising yet and I don't really like fruit.
I LOVE how there are treat meals on the weekends. It's funny because I don't really crave junk food as much or really at all. I still do manage to eat my ice cream though! My treat meals so far have all been desserts.
I just ordered 30 day shred and picked up a Walk Away the Pounds dvd so I can start exercising - I have a 9 month old baby at home so I can't really get to a gym. I am hoping to do the dvd's during his long afternoon nap.
Jackie Warner has really REALLY worked for me, so keep me posted how it goes for you!!
Lindalee, thanks for responding. I thought for sure you wouldn't see any replies to your post. This is a fast moving board! I wish there was a Jackie Warner thread to stay in touch.
I am a 53 yo, and would like to lose about 25-30 lbs. Since hitting menopause, I can't lose the weight like I used to. I have always been good at exercise, but have to watch it since I over exercised in my thirties, and have some issues that keep me from some workouts. I do about 30 min. of cardio and weights most days of the week.
Did you start the 2 week intro part of her diet first? I plan on doing it, and then add the supplements when I go full out on the diet. I think I will go slow on them since I have some weird reactions to some stuff. I can't handle anything that is fat burning like green tea or aspartame etc. since my nervous system is out of whack and stuff like that cause my feet to buzz and muscles to tighten up and go numb. So strange. I did Body for Life about 8 years ago, and his supplements made everything worse. So I will proceed with caution.
How interesting that you haven't been excersing yet and you have done so well with your weight loss! Good for you. I have to admit, that my biggest problem is sugar...I am an addict, so that will be my biggest hurdle. That is why I'm so glad she says to grab fruit instead of sugar. So hopefully that will stop the cravings. I also plan on getting some of my veggies, fruit and also protein powder by making green smoothies. I really like them, but I'm out of the habit. I have a blendtec blender that is so great for making them.
It is so helpful to know of someone that is seeing results with this way of eating. Let me know of any good ideas or tips as you go along.
Thanks! (sorry this is so long...)
