Hello. I'm new (both to the forum and to dieting) and I have no idea where to start. I started going to the gym two weeks ago (4 times a week) and I've only lost three pounds. I have no idea what to do for diet food since there seems to be so many choices. No idea how to move forward and it feels kind of daunting and scary.

O Delacruz, welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diets, themes, or age groups, find one that inspires you and just post to join!

Hello,

Where to start : Look up a BMR calculator and figure out how many calories your body would burn if you laid in bed all day. Then look up a weight loss calculator and find out how many calories you should be eating to lose weight. Next, make a meal plan for the week so you dont go digging in cupboards when hungry and end up grabbing something that isn't good!!!.

Also, please note that you should never ever go under 1200 NET calories. A lot of women make the mistake of eating 1200 calories, and then exercising 400 more away, causing their net calories to only be 800 which can make you not only lose weight, but can even cause weight gain! Even 1200 calories is extremely low. Most women aim for 1500-1700 a day and still lose weight. Don't forget strength training either!

Hi and welcome!

You are right! All of this can be confusing. Do a bunch of reading here at 3FC. See what other folks are up to. Ask questions. Your food plan doesn't have to be fancy. You'll come up with something thay works for you. And we'll be here to help with that.
