Exclamation have to loss half a person!

Hello, I just joined the form.
I am Nia, i'm 22 and I have to loss almost a whole half of me.
I am 5' and i weigh 230lbs ATM (12-14-2011).
I am always sad when i think about my weight, because i do not really eat that much. I get frustrated when clothing shopping, and i just think its about time i do something about it.

I am wondering what the best way to loss weight would be, and basically just trying to get more knowledge and support.

One major issue is exercise. I have nerve damage and an injury to my right wrist that basically makes anything using my arms a no go. I was told by the doctor i shouldn't even be lifting a jug of milk with that arm.
I can maybe lift 8lbs with it but not for very long, which makes things like push ups out of the question.

I am thinking about slowly working up strength in that arm and after i loss about 30-50 lbs i can maybe start doing maybe a few push ups or something (i twisted my arm to scratch my back the other day and it felt like i broke my wrist, that's how bad it is right now).

anywho if anyone has any tips, please do share!

i do not have money for equitment or anything, i have a trail i can walk or run on and such but of course, being bigger running is really hard, plus winter is coming up... and the holidays..ect anyways... lol

so i have limited funds for food each month and basicly no money to go get a dvd or a yoga mat or what ever. I do like to mess around on my wii fit and i also play DDR alot so there is a plus

anywho, i really need some ideas

thank you!
Nia~*

Welcome Nia! So glad you found this site.
There is a ton of information on this site on various food plans to follow. I would encourage you to find a plan that fits in your lifestyle and you can follow long term. I personally chose calorie counting because it was free, there are a ton of apps you can download to help track your food, and it is flexible. I can eat pretty much what I want as long as it fits in my calorie range for the day. You can Google "How many calories should I eat to lose weight" which will bring up calorie calculators to input your current stats and get a number to try and keep your daily calories within. Work on eliminating all sugary drinks and drink lots and lots of water.
As for exercise, YouTube has many work out videos that you can download, the library is a great resource for borrowing them. I have also discovered that HULU.COM has added many exercise videos to its site.
Most importantly is do not give up. If you have a bad meal, a bad day or week do not use this as an excuse to throw in the towel.
Best of luck to you!

WELCOME!!! You'll find a great bunch of people here with incredible stories and amazing ideas. I also tried calorie counting because it's what works for my lifestyle. The important thing is to find something/a plan that you can stick with long term. A lot of the fads are great for a few weeks but can you really survive on the eating plan for the rest of your life?

For exercising, I use Walk Away the Pounds by Leslie Sansone which can be modified for almost anything. Not a lot of impact but still a great workout! Remember, one day at a time, one meal at a time, one pound at a time. Cheering you on to goal

NIA ~ there are lots of plan ideas here -- I am on a portion/calorie plan which is very easy and free (there is a calorie counter forum here). I'm sure you know that WALKING is free and the best exercise of all; don't have to worry about your arm with that -- use those trails. Start out slow and quicken the pace up as you go along. Good luck!
