Greetings Earthlings

  • Hallo, Hi, Hola, Hej, Bonjour, Guten Tag!

Been lurking for awhile and finally decided to get involved in the conversation(s).

Hmmm, I s'pose I should tell you a bit about myself. I'm kinda fat. Well, okay, I'm really fat. But I'm working on it. I've been working on it since January 2011. I've lost around 70 lbs so far, which I should be proud of, and I am... mostly... But I do have a tendency to be quite hard on myself for the things that I haven't accomplished (i.e. 12 months of dieting should equal 120 lbs, in my warped li'l mind).

My diet regime thus far has had me following a low calorie diet and exercising at least 4x week for an hour or so. Hit a pretty big plateau around September. Fiddled around and waited, ate less, ate more.. drove myself nuts... so recently I decided to give up refined sugar and most starch (Why did I do this around the holidays? *smacks head* I do not know -- self torture maybe?). After the last 2 weeks of this new way of eating, I have lost 5 lbs... Which is VERY encouraging.

I love reading this site. Everyone has a story/goal/mission that is inspiring in and of itself. It's very motivating and I can't wait for us all to meet our ultimate goals--- which of course is HAPPINESS!

  • Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your weight loss success to date. There is no time line in weight loss. You are doing great!!! Be Proud!
  • Thank you NEMom, and congratulations to you on your weight loss! I hope I can someday join you in writing "initial goal met" on my profile
  • Ha, nice intro!! Welcome to the madness... uh board I mean!! Nice loss so far, don't beat yourself up when it is not as fast as you want. There is still life to live while losing weight and they say the slower it comes off the easier it is to keep it off. I learned a lot this year and I wouldn't want to trade it for a faster success. Let your mind catch up and plug away.
I am sure you will find great support here!
Sounds like you are doing it the right way. In my opinion at least. Nothing beats eating less and burning calories!
