One Year post gastric bypass

  • Hi everyone!

I'm new on this forum. I'm doing well but the weight loss is not as fast as it was. I am exercising at the gym but I still have problems noshing in the evening usually while I'm on the computer. I do make much better food choices than I used to but there are some habits I just can't kick. Any advice?

I'm happy to share my experiences on my blog. Come visit!

    Best wishes,

  • Congrats on your successful weight loss! It looks like you're doing really well.

I've heard that some people will chew gum when they would typically snack. Maybe doing something like that would help? Night time eating is where I struggle the most too, so I personally can't tell you what works, haha.

    Have a nice evening!

  • wow, you've had so much success already. Two things I've learned that really matter in weight loss are 1) your mindset and 2) what you eat. The second one might seem kind of obvious, but there's more to it than you think. It's not all about eating less food, although that does help, but the foods you choose change your mood, motivation, and hunger. For example, if I spend 200 calories of my day on sweets, then I'm just dying for more sweets. If I spend the day snacking rather than having meals, then I'll want to just keep snacking after I reached my calorie limit.

As for evening snacking, Tanna's suggestion of gum is a good one. Also, making sure you ate a dinner that's high in fiber and protein helps me to stay satisfied until breakfast. If a snack is warranted, popcorn can be an excellent choice (high fiber, low calories!). Also, I've found that (for me atleast) exercise curbs my appetite a bit. On days when it's the opposite, I can always eat a little bit more, because I burned more calories.

    Nice to see you here
  • Wow, you have already lost SO MUCH!

If you have a habit of eating at the computer, I would recommend putting everything you ever want to eat on a plate, with appropriate serving sizes, and eat at the table (or somewhere similar) - don't ALLOW yourself to eat at the computer.

    Good luck!
