Talking Hi There!!!

Hey

My name is Annie and I come from the cotswolds

I'm joining because I feel motivated by this long holiday in between finishing my exams and going off to university to try and create a new fitter me

I haven't weighed myself and don't think I ever will (I am prone to throwing angry tantrums...)

EDIT:Okay, after looking some more around the forums I realised that most of you have your weights as goals etc. so I've sucked it up.... I weigh 213 pounds :s . tbh, I dont know how I'm supposed to feel about this as I already knew I wasn't as light as air. So, after this, any ideas on goals?

I'm 18(and one week ) 5'2" and a size 16-18 (or even up to 20 depending on what store )

Yeah...that's all I can think of right now to say, from lurking on these forums for a bit everyone seems friendly and helpful and I hope I can get down to a size 12-14 by the end of September. Is this realistic at all?

There's a lot you can accomplish in a few months, and the habits you build now will take work, but with a little effort you'll be able to keep at them from now and through university!

Most of us enjoy (okay maybe "enjoy" isn't the best word) knowing where we started. When we have a starting point, it's suddenly there in front of us. Honesty. This is how much we weigh, we own it, and we're changing it. Nothing more. Nothing less.

If you've been lurking around you might also notice that while some people have picked some round-about goal weights, most people do NOT have a time limit for those goals. Is it possible for you to lose a pant size in a couple months? Maybe. Maybe not. It's going to depend on how fast your body decides to lose, and WHERE it decides to drop the weight from first.

I can say this, though. You make healthy, permanent changes to your lifestyle now... changes that you know you can stick with through university, and it won't matter how long it takes to get the weight off. It WILL come off, and you'll be setting yourself up for one less thing to worry about through college.

Let's put aside September, and instead think June... because June is where we are now =)

Do you have a plan? A food plan? Or activity plan? Or maybe even an idea about some habit you want to change?

Let us know! We might be able to lend a hand with formulating a few ideas, or point you in a direction ^^

Just know that no matter what, you can do this! You. Can. Do. This!

Hi Annie! Welcome to 3FC! I think Lovely's right. It can be very motivational to have a time frame and a weight or clothing size in mind, but the process - learning healthier habits, practicing them, and re-learning them if you slip up - is what will help you have long term success.

I hope to see you around the boards.

Well, in terms of fitness I'm thinking swimming. I'm all psyched up and ready to go today. (Costume, towel goggles all packed up plus money for entry)

But I have no idea where to start. I can walk reasonably far but I dont know how this translates into swimming...
Might post in another section to see what people think?

Swimming is an excellent way to get moving, and so is walking for that matter!

You don't necessarily have to translate it back and forth. Perhaps you just commit to going a certain number of days swimming, and days you can't swim you just take a nice walk.

Anything that gets you moving consistently.
