New to 3fcs!! Suggestions welcome!

  • Hey everyone!

I'm Angela and I'm ready to take responsibility for my weight issues.

I've always had a strange body build since I hit puberty--even at a size 10 waist I still had size 14 hips & a big chest. Part of me not caring about how much I weigh is probably because I've never been able to just buy clothes off the rack and see that they fit properly. I fight with all my might to knock down and ignore the mass media for suggesting that you're less of a person if you don't care how you look. Sometimes it's a bigger issue than just vanity.

Now at a size 18, clothes fit better but I don't like the way they fit--big thighs (although after weight loss they're still gonna be big) & a very big tummy.

I walk my dog + foster dogs 1 1/2 hours a day MINIMUM. I've got rockin' calves and I really have endurance. My waist is still small. "Accentuate the positive", right?

So I've got another issue--I come from a family that has digestive issues. At an early age I was suffering from bad acid reflux. My doctor suggested we find out what the cause was--it was flour and other starchy items. I do not have Crohn's or anything like that; 2 days in a row of white bread at 2 meals/day will just send me to the Rolaids.

So I've been on a modified Atkins on and off to relieve me of my digestion issues. I have no urge or will power to go back as I really appreciate one sweet a day.

When I worked out in the field for my job 8 years ago, I ate 2 of three meals on the go and packed my lunch. I lost a significant amount of weight with good, real food with snacks. This is what I'd like to do again!

So I am going to start the >1500 calorie plan a day. I'm great at eating tons of veggies (from my organic garden) & lean proteins. I can see myself eating 5 meals a day (3 meals, 2 snacks) with my dinner being the smallest and before 6pm.

After looking through the threads, I do not see a group for calorie restriction. Is there one?

    Thanks for reading!!!

Sounds like you're starting off with a solid plan. There's a Calorie Counters section under Diet Central, but there are also groups for different ages, weight to lose, interests. All sorts of sections. Post wherever you're comfortable

  • Hi ScottieMama! Welcome! Love seeing you're from St. Louis -- I grew up in Chesterfield. I would SO love to get back to Missouri. I personally feel it was a fabulous place to grow up, so I would like to raise my daughter there! Now, if only it was by the beach ...

  • Hello ScottieMama,

I'm new here and I think the support, experience, and encouragement is awesome!

    I love this forum!

All along losing weight was not the problem for me, keeping the weight off was the problem. I kid you not when I say I tried every diet out there “Calorie counting, Weight Watchers, Adkins, Nutrisystem, etc., and on each of them I lose no less than 50lbs! But before I knew it the old “eating habits” would resurface, that is until I read this awesome article “Weight loss management Psychology” by Malcolm Baptiste! Check it out!

It has changed the way I look at weight loss totally! The scale is moving, the inches are falling off, and I’m going strong!!!

We can do this because Knowledge is Power!!!

I'm looking forward to hearing about your success and I invite you guys to check out my blog on 3fcs called Brand New Me as I win this battle for once and for all!

Hey MissSea! I was born & still live in St. Charles. I would agree w/you--St. Louis is a great place to raise a kid. Enough stuff to do & see w/o being overwhelmed. The "natives" are polite & friendly.

And yes, it would be nicer to live by the ocean. I would gladly stick my toes in the Mississippi on a hot day though.
  • Hey everyone! It's been 2 weeks and I have lost 7 lbs! Yay!
