Hello,
Just thought I'd drop an introductory line before I started posting in the forums. I am a six foot tall woman in my early thirties.
I struggled with weight issues in my teens. When I was 17 I weighed in at 250 pounds and started making changes in my life then to maintain a healthier lifestyle. I was more active and more aware of what I was eating and eventually I found myself at a normal 175 +/- a few pounds.
I am currently healthy, and quite happy with my physical health and appearance. I belong to a gym and workout (typically) 4 times a week (this can be anywhere from a pumped up zumba class, to a gentle yoga session, to doing light weights.)
My weight had recently crept up to nearly 180 (red alert!) when I decided I needed to take charge of my diet and fitness and keep my weight in check. I am now down to 172 after about two months of dieting and exercise. I have noticed that exercise does not help me lose weight really. I need to control my eating very carefully in order to see changes on the scale. I have also noticed that I LOVE FOOD! Dieting is really hard for me to do because I am a gourmande.
My purpose for joining the site is to find some inspiration and advice in people here. I have taken a break from 'dieting' and am ready to start again after remaining at this steady weight for about a month. I would like to acheive my ideal BMI of 21 as I am a little higher than that right now. I do know that sometimes the ideals we maintain in our minds for weight loss may not be the best for us, or be sustainable, but I feel that smack dab in the middle of a normal BMI would be a healthy and acheivable goal for me.
I am also building my endurance on the treadmill and have taken an interest in jogging. I would really like to be able to develop my cardiovascular endurance.
I would also love to be able to do one (ONE!) chin up!
