Life is Sweet :)

  • Hello,

Just thought I'd drop an introductory line before I started posting in the forums. I am a six foot tall woman in my early thirties.

I struggled with weight issues in my teens. When I was 17 I weighed in at 250 pounds and started making changes in my life then to maintain a healthier lifestyle. I was more active and more aware of what I was eating and eventually I found myself at a normal 175 +/- a few pounds.

I am currently healthy, and quite happy with my physical health and appearance. I belong to a gym and workout (typically) 4 times a week (this can be anywhere from a pumped up zumba class, to a gentle yoga session, to doing light weights.)

My weight had recently crept up to nearly 180 (red alert!) when I decided I needed to take charge of my diet and fitness and keep my weight in check. I am now down to 172 after about two months of dieting and exercise. I have noticed that exercise does not help me lose weight really. I need to control my eating very carefully in order to see changes on the scale. I have also noticed that I LOVE FOOD! Dieting is really hard for me to do because I am a gourmande.

My purpose for joining the site is to find some inspiration and advice in people here. I have taken a break from 'dieting' and am ready to start again after remaining at this steady weight for about a month. I would like to acheive my ideal BMI of 21 as I am a little higher than that right now. I do know that sometimes the ideals we maintain in our minds for weight loss may not be the best for us, or be sustainable, but I feel that smack dab in the middle of a normal BMI would be a healthy and acheivable goal for me.

I am also building my endurance on the treadmill and have taken an interest in jogging. I would really like to be able to develop my cardiovascular endurance.

I would also love to be able to do one (ONE!) chin up!
  • I'd like to be able to do a 1/2 of a chin up! LOL Welcome to the board
  • Welcome What great changes you've made!

We're all working one step at a time to do the same...be a little bit healthier every day ^^

    Post wherever you're comfortable.
  • Hi IHeart & others...

I've been posting invites here and there to those looking for motivation and just a bit of accountability. Come join my thread: Sarge's Boot Camp to Beach Weather...(we're continuing on thru summer). We're an active, chatty thread. Lots of motivation...walkers, c25Krs, zumba people, plain old exercise dvd people, boxing, etc. etc...point is, we MOVE.
Anyways, all you do is make a pledge to fictitious Sarge each week about what you'll accomplish... how many pounds you WILL lose, "Maintain," some are have pledged 5 cheat free days, etc. Then just DO what you said you DO...NO EXCUSES.

We've also just started a virtual group Trek across America (5,048 miles).
All are invited to come join the fun at this thread: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/chic...ather-5-a.html

Good luck to you all. Hope to see you around the Platoon!

Thank you for the warm welcome and I look forward to bouncing ideas off of everyone here.

I'll also be sure to check into the bootcamp group; sounds like something that would really help motivate me.

    Cheers everyone!
