Question Hello

Hello

I'm new to the site, I have tried going on a diet off and on and have struggled with my weight for a while now, think part of my problem is I work at McDonald's and eat there when I work.

The other part of my problem is I need help with the right healthy foods I can eat and was wondering if any of you can help me with that. I am very picky and don't like seafood, onions, mushrooms. But I do love Salad's, and most vegetables and fruits. Do like rice. Also love pasta but don't think that is very healthy.

Also had gestational diabetes with my youngest who is now 5 years old and they say if you don't get to a healthy you have a chance of getting diabetes within 10 years. I really need to drop the weight and get healthy

Please help
Thank you
Zaneita

Hi Zaneita!

Wow, that must be super hard to stay away from McD's when you WORK there!

I am a pretty picky eater myself, I don't like mushrooms or seafood either----at all!!!! Well, I have learned to like mushrooms if they are mixed in with other things, and if you can't taste them, LOL....I actually made tilapia the other night for my boys and husband and was surprisingly tempted to take a bite of the tilapia, but I just couldn't do it. I don't even know how I was TEMPTED. LOL. I wish I did like seafood because it's so good for you, but.....I just can't.

I have been eating a lot of egg whites with spinach and tomatoes for breakfast (on a 100 cal bun), cottage cheese, fruits (fav right now is strawberries and grapes), stir fry veggies that come frozen in a bag (no mushrooms, LOL), and I sprinkle a little bit of mozz cheese on them. Also, a lot of chicken breast, and I have been eating the Smart Ones frozen meals for lunch.
I think whole wheat pasta or brown rice is fine, but small portions of it. My problem is, I am a binge eater, and simply cannot have just 1 cup of pasta. I know myself, and in the part of my journey that I am in right now, I KNOW that 1 cup would lead to 2 cups, to 3 cups, etc etc etc. But, if you can handle only a cup or so of it, go for it!!

Ok, I hope that helped you some...there are some very knowledgeable people on this board, I hope you find it a great tool!!!!!!

Welcome to 3FC =)

1) No more "diets". Diets end. Diets have a quit date. No way! Not for us. We don't "diet". No more starving and depriving ourselves until we just give up. We're simply making changes to the way we eat and move from this point forward. Lifestyle change, yep!

Thinking about changing everything we eat and do at once is terribly overwhelming and I don't recommend it. Small changes. One week at a time. This week... you could... drink water instead of anything with sugar in it. OR Add an extra serving of vegetables to your dinner. OR write down everything you eat no matter what it is just to start keeping track. OR take a 10 minute walk each day. OR a myriad of other small healthy habits.

2) You don't have to like every food created on this green earth in order to eat healthy. Sometimes it's about what. Sometimes it's just about how much. You don't have to only each fruit, veggies and rice in order to lose weight. All foods can have a place in our healthier eating as long as we control the portion. And of course, plenty of times we'll find healthier substitutions that are just as tasty or moreso!

3) Look around all over the site. Ask questions. Participate. Everyone on 3FC wants everyone else to be successful!

Keep at it! You're taking the first steps! Best of wishes!

I like to make my salad with a wide variety of veggies. Not sure what you like but it makes it much more interesting.
